Bruno Jamais Restaurant Club in New York and KMR Communications, Inc hosted the launch of Lokah i, a collective creation of two artists: Sri Michael and Uma Nanda Saraswati.

Lokah’s debut release, The Ivy Ceiling

merges the ancient Indian art of Kirtan with modern musical styles of the 21st century, fusing east and west in a melodic tapestry. Sanskrit Mantras and highly textured beats coalesce in a cross-cultural expanse of sound. Roderick and Anisa Romero of the Seattle based underground band, Sky Cries Mary, are featured on backing vocals.
Legendary producer Russell Simmons is featured on a spoken intro on track 1.
Sting performs the hauntingly beautiful “Ma Durga” on track 3.

Over 500 members of the media enjoyed the event.
Per Sting’s request, guests were served vegetarian only canapés and the champagne flowed endlessly.
Upon Sting’s arrival, a usual blasé media crowd went wild, and three security guards had to be called in to shield him from the throng of paparazzi. This precursor event was special for Sting because the following evening was his last public performance with the Police.
Guest received gift bags filled with luxury beauty, health and fitness products as well as copies of the CD “The Ivy Ceiling.”
Proceeds from a raffle benefited PETA, one of Sting’s favorite charities
