My Spring 2009 Fashion Week reporting ended on a couture note: more specifically Australian designer Cristina Nitopi’s latest luxury collection, presented at the Majestic Ballroom in the Westin Hotel, Times Square.
Before any models sashayed down the runway, the audience was treated to a performance by singer/songwriter Lara Janine

It was a lovely diversion that energized audience for the show, –like most fashion shows– began later than its scheduled 6 PM.

Cristina Nitopi
Interesting to note that Nitopi had a previous career in psychology. Her mother was a designer and dressmaker and seems to have influenced the development of Cristina’s creative side. Nitopi’s collection featured pieces for both men and women–the men wore leather ensembles in a variety of finishes and colors, the women primarily evening gowns fit for a special occasion or romantic night out.

The two that stood out for me were the rich royal blue floor length gown

and the black and beige patterned number

LA-Story.com would like to thank Joyce Artinian for all her hard work and many events that she attended (or was scheduled to attend but somehow she fell off their list– an event that happened to Nancy Lichtenstein as well. It’s a hazard of the business. You confirm, RSVP, confirm again and they still say you aren’t on the list). Kudos to Joyce for braving the elements to hit all these shows!
