Nancy Lichtenstein of TenPrettyGirls blog is covered NYFW for LA-Story.com. You might remember her from previous NYFW commentaries and Nancy is at her best this season.
Check out this latest post.
I expected the photographers to be awful, based on how they’re represented with the media, but they were actually very cool. I was told the one from TMZ was the guy to watch, because he had a good eye for famous people.
A freelancer who seemed grateful for the attention told me he and others had mobbed Lindsay Lohan earlier in the day, and that the New York Post only pays $200 for a picture, but People will pay $1,000, and the Enquirer will go as far as $10,000, but it has to be something controversial.
(He also dished about Kimora Lee, saying that she’s nasty when she’s alone but nice when her kids are with her.) He also told me the best show to see stars at is Rock & Republic, so I’m going to try to call in some favors to get into that show next time.
Many models walked past us while we were chatting, but I almost passed out when I saw the holy grail of model-watching, Kate Moss, walk by us. She went by too fast to get a picture, though, and I hate to say it, but she looked like a walking skeleton to me. (Her Chanel shades were beyond fabulous, though.)

So Marcus and I were chatting and trying to decide if we should buy umbrellas before it rained, when who walks by but Nigel Barker? He was impossibly tall, thin and handsome in person, and Marcus begged me to ask him to take their picture together.
( This is Nigel Barker, however NOT the photo that was shot at the time Nancy talked about!)
Nigel obliged, and it totally made coming to Fashion Week worthwhile for Marcus, which I understand because that’s how I felt when I met Tim Gunn.
Unfortunately, the remainder of my day went downhill from here, but as Stevie will tell you, you never know what to expect from Fashion Week.
It started pouring like mad, so Marcus and I went to see if we could check in to my next show (I was supposed to be covering Verrier for another website), but it was too early and they wouldn’t let me in. We decided to wait in a café across the street, but while walking there, somehow attracted a guy who looked normal at first, but turned out to be truly disturbed. He asked me to marry him, and then when I refused, asked me to either find him a wife, get him a job as a model, or find him a model to marry.
The conversation just went downhill from there, and when he asked me to move into Port Authority with him, I was getting seriously scared, but he followed us right into the café. I did what any girl would do at this point, bolted, and texted Marcus to lose the crazy dude and meet me back in front of the Big Tent at 5.
Wow!! This was quite a day for Nancy and NYFW. Nancy didn’t get that photo of the Lohan swarm of papparazzi. But when she texted me, I immediately snagged on off Wire Image. Can you imagine such a *weird* series of events? It’s almost as bad as Oscars or Emmys in their own way.
Thank you to Nancy for giving us the behind the scenes scoop of hanging out at NYFW!!
