Just in time for the holidays– Thanksgiving, and everything else in December– is this pie-baking contest sponsored by the website Thekitchn.com
This is a nifty thing they are doing– trying to get you into the holiday (*and cooking) spirit with these great pie recipes as inspiration.
This is a Meyer Lemon Shaker Pie . Just the thought of it makes my heart palpitate– from the desire for a few bites (I love lemon bars too) and also from the fear that I could *never* make this pie.
Honestly, I have never made a pie crust, just like I have never changed a tire either. (thankfully, others have been kind enough to help me– typically of the male species who love to help a damsel in distress).
I don’t know *how* to make a pie– unless you give me a pre-made pie crust and an easy to make recipe for filling that involves chocolate like Tollhouse Pie for example. I think I made 5 pies that year– all TollHouse pies. (I did get creative in the recipe too. I can never follow the recipe exactly).
Unfortunately, I also gained about 10 pounds that same season. Gee, I wonder why!! The Toll House Pie season was easily 10 years ago and I am now wiser for not making things like that– but instead using my creativity in conjuring up new cocktails and how to create outfits for people (yes, people ask me to help dress them) as well as some other interesting tasks.
