Trend Central Talks About Urban Outfitters' Space 15 Twenty Opening 11/21!!

Something ran on Trend Central recently that is probably a most telling statement of the revitalization of the downtown Hollywood area in LA. Akin to the OC’s The CAMP shopping center but with a distinctive Hollywood vibe, this is definitely a site for sore eyes and wallets waiting to be opened

Space 15 Twenty
Previously seen as a seedy by day and more funky by night, it’s been a low-key area around Hollywood Blvd near the 101, particularly around Cahuenga. Given that most of the area has started popping up with some cool restaurants ( Velvet Margarita is definitely a fun place) and the Hotel Cafe is a staple for indie/alt music which is directly across the street.
However the scene’s been getting upscale with various combo lounges/resto’s that are of the “velvet rope” type– meaning you can’t always just walk in and you might not pass inspection unless you are recognizable (celebrity type).

Urban Outfitters and UrbanOutfitters.com
There hasn’t been an influx of the usual typical retailers- till now and not sure this is quite typical because it’s Urban Outfitters and this is not your usual UO store eitther. Called Space 15 Twenty,
This is not your usual shopping space that Urban Outfitters typically puts together. Take one part shopping mall, one part art gallery, two parts event space & community gathering spot and mix well with spice and serious whimsy and what emerges is a combination of communal art + shopping + entertainment. (will they rent out for weddings? )
This is below Selma between Ivar and Cahuenga and will connect those two streets with this new entertainment/shopping space with all the coolness of Urban Outfitters and fitting into the environment of new emerging happening lounges — but think of this as the day into night version.
The Space 15 Twenty opens on Nov. 21, and will have more then just Urban Outfitters but a blend of cutting edge retailers that provide unique vibe and presentation. Some will stay, others change up and there will be space for designer specific collections that will launch with Samantha Pleet, Patrick Pleet for men, Bodkin (eco-friendly), and the Urban Outfitter exclusive Rapscallion. New to the scene will be the

gallery space featuring,. , a permanent gallery space will host different collections ranging from fashion and photography to paintings and independently-published books
Space 15 Twenty — as part of the UO corporate mantra– will be giving back by supporting local art schools, museums, radio stations and businesses including MOCA, Art Center, KCRW, Amoeba Records and will highlight content and performances from these art sources.
The outdoor space will be home to occasional flea markets, film series along with other events.
Hit the space soon. It’s got a lot to keep you busy while you are waiting for your fave act to come on at Hotel Cafe which is just down the street on the other side of Selma!
