This is a NEW product from Warner Brothers: it has the bonus CD soundtrack and 3.5 hours of bonus content. It’s a great movie to give to someone who is a true film fan and/or loves film noir and wants to know the bits and pieces of how they put this movie together. I don’t want to give away all the bonus material because it’s very cool and definitely a must have for those film fans like me!

Also newly-released on DVD — and in case you missed the TV premiere of this 2 hour episode or 24 starring Keifer Sutherland– is the 2 hour special event DVD of 24: Redemption. This DVD bridges the gap of where 24 left off 18 months ago (thanks to the strike) and helps fill in some blanks. Yes there are new characters including a female president (very close to home here) and some new terrorist threats– based in Africa as well as based in the US (a surprise there that I am not going to spoil)
The initial sequences for most of the 2 hours feature the Africa location and the war between rebels and current government with a behind the scenes manipulation of the rebels by an American corporation that ties in thin way to the new incoming president.
For those who love 24, this will be a must have DVD particularly if you didn’t DVR it. Jack Bauer winds up back in US hands after being on the run through many countries and many months and trades his freedom to save some African children from certain death.
The back-story of the corporate involvement is what ties the story together into a terrorist threat back here in the US and Jack Bauer being called back into action though CTU is up for Senate investigation. It’s fairly neatly put together. The biggest issue is that the series won’t go live until January– which is a long time to wait for a series when you have this kind of kick-off on it. The series will lose some momentum from this delay or the DVD will not pick up until right before the season 7 debut. However you can have it now and be ahead of the game. If you are a 24 junkie like me, then it’s worth having *now*. Others not so thrilled with the series might find it premature and a bit tiresome to wait almost 6 weeks for the series debut. Personally I feel they should just bring it on!
Keifer Sutherland is great as always. Robert Carlyle is incredbile. The scenes in Africa are genuine and reflect the current turmoil in that continent. The new president is going to bring nuances to the series that are much needed. There is some hidden ties between the corporation masterminding the African revolution and the past president and some other people on the sidelines. An unexpected surprise from the past resurrects in a character appearance that will make you *want* to watch season 7.
Find this at amazon.com and other mass merchants.
