Stress Breakouts Terrorizing You? Zeno to the Rescue!!

Unemployment is soaring, the economy has been falling along with the Dow and the only thing popping up are pimples,
According to a new, nationwide survey from Zeno, makers of the world’s most effective, over-the-counter and FDA-approved blemish treatment device, stress is the number one reason (53%) why adults ages 19+ say they get pimples.
One thing is clear: these are bumpy times and ‘recession acne’ is surfacing as the latest *break-out* by-product.

The Zeno Blemish Anguish Index also found that the majority (90%) of adults ages 19+ and almost all teens (96%) have suffered from pimples.
Nearly three-quarters (71%) of adults get pimples regularly;
more than half (53%) of women over 55 still get pimples;
about two-thirds (65%) of women, 19-44, would rather have a bad hair day than a pimple;
and Halle Berry tops the list (56%) of female celebrities with the most beautiful skin.
The Zeno Blemish Anguish Index was conducted in February and March 2009 by Harris Interactive and surveyed 5,151 adults (ages 19+) and 900 teens (ages 13-18) nationwide.

“Blemishes are a universal nuisance for everyone, regardless of age and gender, and they happen most during times like these because stress wreaks havoc on our hormones,” says Dr. Doris Day, a clinical assistant professor of dermatology at the New York University Medical Center and one of the leading board certified cosmetic dermatologists in the country. “For an easy and effective at-home treatment, I recommend the Zeno, a hand-held beauty device that is FDA-approved and uses soothing heat to kill the bacteria that cause pimples to surface and worsen.”

FDA trials have shown that Zeno starts improving blemishes in less than an hour and eliminates or significantly reduces blemishes within 24 hours for 90% of users. In addition, in clinical trials, 88% of people said Zeno was better than other blemish treatments.
“The Zeno works,” says Dr. Day. “I tell my patients it’s like having a beauty insurance policy that protects you from having a blemish on an important day.”

Blemish Incidence
Women are more likely than men to get a pimple (75% women vs. 68% men) and also more likely to have them once a month or more often (33% women vs. 22% men). While it is not surprising that the incidence of blemishes appears to decrease with age (the percentage of teens who have ever experienced pimples is 96%; the percentage of adults ages 19-34 who typically get pimples is 90%; 87% for ages 35-44; 72% for ages 45-54; and 49% for ages 55+), even among those 55 and older, nearly one-quarter (23%) experience pimples at least a few times a year.
U.S. adults who typically get blemishes believe they are most likely to get a pimple during times of stress (53%), especially women (women 59% vs. men 46%). Fifty-seven percent of women who get pimples cite their menstrual cycle as a likely time to get them. In addition, women are also more likely than men to say they get pimples when they switch to a new skin care product or make up (women 19% vs. men 8%), but are less likely than men to say the change in seasons results in pimples (women 14% vs. men 21%).

Location of Blemishes
U.S. adults, regardless of gender, are most likely to get pimples somewhere on their face (50%) with most blemish sufferers getting them on the chin (27%) followed by the forehead (36%), nose (21%) and cheeks (21%). Adults also reported that they get blemishes on their back (17%), neck (9%), chest (9%), buttocks (7%), and arms (6%).
Women are twice as likely as men to get pimples on their chin (36% women vs. 18% men), while men are twice as likely to get pimples on their neck (6% women vs. 11% men). Additionally, women are less likely than men to get pimples on their back (women 12% vs. men 22%), buttocks (women 4% vs. 10% men), and arms (women 5% vs. men 8%).
Impact of Blemishes
The survey also found that half of adults, including 65% of women between the ages of 19 and 44, would rather have a bad hair day than a pimple on their face and 39% of all adults say having a pimple on their face makes them feel less confident.
To cope with pimples, more than one-third (36%) of adults (as compared to 53% of teens) have picked at or popped a blemish to the point of making it worse and women are more likely to have done so (42%) than men (31%). Women are also more likely to have bought special make-up or product (31% women vs. 5% men) or wore their hair a different way to try to hide the pimple (10% women vs. 1% men).
On the more resourceful side, 3% of adults have used a make-up pencil to darken a blemish and make it look like a beauty mark, 3% have put a band-aid on it to conceal it and 3% have fibbed and told people a blemish was a bug bite or something else.
Teens are particularly self-conscious about blemishes. When they have had a pimple, 24% have avoided being in a photograph, 21% have changed their hairstyle to hide the blemish, 21% have spent money on special make-up or product to hide the blemish, 19% have avoided someone they had a crush on, 8% have avoided meeting someone new, 6% have stayed home at night or over a weekend and 6% have avoided participating in class.
Prom, Graduation and Wedding Day Blemish Anguish
Among teens, 77% of teens (80% of teen girls and 75% of teen boys) said they would hate to have a pimple on prom night and 76% said they would hate to have one on high school graduation day. More than half of teens say that having a pimple on prom night or graduation day would negatively affect the occasion (58% for prom; 51% for graduation).
Among single adults, over half (53%) say it is important that they do not have a pimple on their wedding day and 41% say having a blemish on their wedding day would make the day less enjoyable. Nearly one-quarter (24%) are worried that they will have a pimple on their wedding day.
Celebrity Skin
Who has the best skin in Hollywood? With her flawless complexion, Halle Berry comes in number one (56%) as the female celebrity with the most beautiful skin. Runners-up include Angelina Jolie (39%), Jennifer Aniston (37%), and Nicole Kidman (35%) among others.
