There have been a slew of books hitting my desk — so many that I am building a wonderful tower to keep me busy for the next few months.
If You Miss the Train I’m On, might be one that you miss in that pile of books because of the positioning it has in the market– which is counter to the actual story. While it looks like it might be more “chick lit” or otherwise known as contemporary women’s literature (thank you Lauren Lipton!), it’s most decidedly not that sort of book. Yes, it’s fiction but it drama and mystery and highly charged with emotion that doesn’t leave any loose ends because the author, Grace Willetts has pretty much tied them up neatly for every character in the book.
So with that being the case– and if you check out Amazon’s reviews, you will see that I am “spot on” about this being much more of an exploration of the minds, emotional life and the spirit of the various characters– even the dead one!
I have had my run with authors lately and why not one more– particularly when I have known this author as both colleague (she contributed amazing things when I was Editor in Chief at Lucire Magazine print.) and as a good friend. Grace Willetts is an extremely talented woman and I wish I had a photo of her to share — but I don’t.
Instead you can look at the very interesting and aptly created cover shot of the book above while you listen to Grace Willetts talk about the story behind the book and how a mother of 2 children and a dog managed to juggle all her regular life and write a book too. But then life hands us things that we need to do, see, and learn from– and this is one of those things that Willett’s life lessons and experience brought this book to fruition.
