Courtesy of Terra.com, I have was offered this interview with Jennifer Lopez about her participation on American Idol. Here’s the scoop from Terra USA’s Dennis Pastorizo
Things got wild at yesterday’s Television Critics Association event in Pasadena, California. The organization, which represents more than 200 TV and online journalists, held a press day for FOX’s winter programming in Pasadena, California. I had the pleasure of attending a conference for “American Idol,” and even got to ask Jennifer Lopez a couple of questions. Without a doubt, “Jenny From The Block,” will be one of the most talked about judges in the show’s history, as she was asked so many questions, yesterday. A huge crowd of journalists even swamped her after the conference, while she calmly sat down and talked to them(
About Her Clothing:
DENNIS (D): Jennifer, I wanted to ask you about your outfits for this season. There’s been some talk about…
JENNIFER (J): You too? Okay? (laughter)
D: Some people have been commenting that I guess they’re concerned that if you are too glammed up, Middle America won’t be able to connect with you. What kind of outfits are we going to see from you? More couture outfits?
J: Well, you’re going to see me from here up (points from her waist up) Okay?
D: Are we gonna see more Jenny from the block? What are we going to see?
J: You’re going to see everything, you know what I mean? You know me. I just change it up every single day in my own life. I can only be myself on the show. I’m not gonna to try to be-play it down or play it up or do anything. I’m just gonna be me, and that’s always worked for me with the public. They see me; they know that I’m real. And then, you know, it just works, and I don’t want to overthink it too much. I’m a girl who likes to get dressed up, put on her jewelry or her lipstick and go. So that’s what you’ll get.
D: You’re not getting anything specially designed for the show?
J: No, no, no. I mean, I get a good choice, a good pick of a lot of things. But, no, I’m not getting anything specially designed or anything like that, no.
On ‘American Idol’….Latin Style!
DENNIS (D): And would you consider doing “Latin American Idol”?
JENNIFER (J): Oh, I don’t know. I’m taking it one step at a time. We’re here today. The show hasn’t even started yet. We’ll see how it goes.
Who Will Win This Year?
Jennifer:
“We have a lot of great talent…I feel so emotionally attached to all of them already. I hate seeing any of them go. I’ve already shed a couple of tears. It’s a tough process, but I think what we have found and why we get so involved is because we see so much potential and we see so much great talent and so much artistry there, and it’s about kind of, you know, you see yourself, you know years ago, you know. And you can identify, and you want to just guide them in the right direction. And it’s tough. We don’t know. It might be a boy, it might be a girl. It’s who can make it under the pressure of the show…week by week, and that’s what I tell them all the time…’You’ve got to make us (the judges)-our hair stand up. You’ve got to do it.’ ‘What can I do, Jennifer? What can I do, Steven?’ They ask us, and I go, ‘Every time you get up there, we’ve got to have our jaws drop, every time’…But that’s what it takes. That’s what it takes, is when you get up there and you have that moment that you come through.”
Thank you to Terra.com and Dennis Pastorizo for this interview!
