The New Music Seminar was the locale for the launch of the latest ground-breaking — and long overdue- technology in the music industry : the artist-friendly ticketing service.
GigsWiz is a new ticketing company for venues and promoters that pays artists to promote ticket sales online, providing instant and seamless updating and synchronization across all social media platforms.
GigsWiz is an easy-to-use online service for event organizers where they can manage tickets sales and monitor real-time statistics.
● For festivals and small to mid-sized General Admission venues.
● Consumers buy tickets with any major credit card or Paypal.
● A portion of the GigsWiz 15% booking fee is shared with participating artists;
no additional or hidden fees to consumer, venue or promoter
● Activation of ticket selling takes place within minutes of signing up for the service.
● Tickets are delivered via email, consumers print out the tickets at home.
The GigsWiz proprietary platform automates the direct-to-fan communication on social media
● Addresses the frequently heard promoter complaint that it is difficult for event organizers to get artists to promote on line ticket sales.
● Does not require additional work from the band once the service has been activated.
● Automatic Twitter and Facebook updates are a huge time saver for artists and event
organizers
● Fans are more responsive to information about upcoming gigs when the message
comes directly from the band, instead of a third party.
I had a chance to speak with Dave Hazen, virtual CMO for GigsWiz about this new ticketing technology and how it will change up the sales for concerts, club dates and ultimately the sales of CDs and downloads for musicians across the board.
Here’s a podcast of the conversation with him about GigsWiz : what it is and what it isn’t!
How it Works
Event organizers sign on to tickets.gigswiz.com to create event listings and tickets. Before publishing their ticket purchase page, event organizers add bands performing at the event.
After the event is published and sales commence, GigsWiz will automatically post status
updates to artists’ Facebook and Twitter profiles. The updates will also be listed on GigsWiz’s Facebook application on the artists’ Facebook pages, websites and Myspace profiles, with a ticketing link.
The GigsWiz widget – which can be used on any website or social network page – automatically updates gig details from GigsWiz Tickets. GigsWiz also provides other time-saving, salesgenerating tools for promoters and venues to promote tickets sales online, including engaging bands who are not yet GigsWiz users. Event organizers can follow sales in real time on tickets.gigswiz.com.
GigsWiz delivers the power of direct-to-fan ticket marketing to its venue, promoter and artist partners, through real time social media updates. While this is a new platform and new paradigm and will take a bit to roll out, it’s worth participating particularly as a musician because it streamlines the social media process (which is crucial for fanbase outreach) . It also will sell more tickets and update the calendar of tour dates. It’s not threat to TicketMaster at this time, this new platform can could be the earthquake to shift the direction of ticket sales and how it’s done in favor of the artists in a huge way and has great potential to grow and change a lot of things in the music industry as a ripple effect.
So if you are a musican or you know a musician, read this again. Tell your friends, your management, your venues that you would like them to participate in this new GigsWiz platform. Won’t cause any problems and will solve a lot of problems for many a musician and venue!!
Thankyou to Dave Hazen for his time in speaking about GigsWiz.
