With all the brouhaha over keratin treatments, one has to wonder what options one has. This is the first in a series on NEW keratin treatments that are very different from what’s previously been out there. All of them are formaldehyde-free and they have new options to offer. Given that it’s summer now and we all want great looking hair all the time with no muss, fuss or flat irons and as little blow-dry time as possible, it’s not unreasonable to be seeking out this treatment now.

Created by Kuen Rameson, this is a step in a different direction which allows you to have gorgeous hair with minimal amount of heat in the process of the professional smoothing treatment but also to have you use flat irons and blow dryers less frequently. It’s about walking out of the house with damp hair and brushing it out later and being happy with how fabulous your hair looks. Now that is something new!
I had a chance to speak to Kuen Rameson and asked her about the product line and how the smoothing treatment works. Here’s the podcast.
I have tried the retail products: the shampoo, conditioner, gloss serum and the masque and find them to be everything Kuene says they are. Lush treatments that work really well and leave you with well conditioned hair and the fragrance is like a vacation in Hawaii. I love it!! I find that using less is more and a little goes a long way with the serum too– 2 pumps and I am set with great shiny hair.
I can’t comment on the professional smoothing treatment because I haven’t had it. However the photos and the video speak for themselves. I also met Kuene at ISSE in Long Beach in January and every person on her staff had amazing hair. (A MAZ ING!!)
Key facts are
1) formaldehyde-free
2) low heat (not 450 degrees, but only 380 degrees)
3)no wait wash-out or work-out.
4) well thought out retail line that can be used solo or after smoothing treatment,
5) control frizz and have glossy hair.
