Ear Worms — or Music Currently Playing in My Car and in My Head!

I am a huge music fan. I think some of you know about it and others don’t. Typically I review based on many, many listening sessions in the car. I have a great sound system and I am a firm believer that repetition is good for the soul as well as analysis of the music –lyrics, structure and themes.
Here are a few songs that I have been listening too with real enthusiasm (as in crank up the sound when I am in the car!

1) Fitz and the Tantrums: HandClap

Great beat, throbbing bass line and smoking chorus make this a welcome addiction! You can’t help but move when the song comes on. If you watch the HANDCLAP video, it’s even better! Now that the new Fitz and the Tantrum’s album is out!

Did you just love that video? SO crazy great and definitely requires another viewing or 3 (or 4 or 10). I find this video a welcome addiction and break. Want some backstage 411 on the making of this video? Here it is:

The great part is the Fitz and the Tantrums are on tour, opening in Clifton Park, NY 6/23 and touring the county …… and a Greek Theater date of Oct 14 has opened up with Fitz and the Tantrums headling with supporting acts X-Amassadors and Tyler Glenn.

Another song that has me dancing the kitchen and the car is Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling!

Official video

This song is a mood-changer… or at least for me it is. It’s the Summer of 2016 theme .. or any great event that you want to remember when you hear this song. I love the beat, his lyricism and the sheer dancey-ness of the melody line. It’s perfect for a road-trip or a girls night out.

Here’s the one featuring Dreamworks Animation’s “The Trolls” cast!

I love this video. It shows most of the moves I was doing when I heard it for the first (second, third and fourth) time that I heard it! It makes it imperative you buy the album!

Both videos are intoxicating in their own ways.. often counterpoint and complimentary to each song. If it’s not on your playlist, they should be.
Other songs to be including on the Summer 2016 playlist:

X-Ambassadors: Unsteady
Ruth B: Lost Boy
DNCE: Cake by the Ocean
Meaghan Trainor: No
One Republic: Wherever I Go

There are more songs on my playlist you should hear, but they can wait for another post. These songs could not.

If you think I missed a song that you feel is crucial to the Summer of 2016, leave me a comment on this blog OR hit me up on Twitter.com/lastory and give me a link to the song!
