The creator of the quintessential surf movie poster for Endless Summer has created a large-scale art installation—Signs of Life-that will be free and open to the public for six weeks just in time to usher in the Valentine’s Day season with kaleidoscopic art and celebration.

Van Hamersveld has as played an instrumental role in shaping the visual culture of rock n’ roll and SoCal life since the 60s. Known for his legendary concert poster of Jimi Hendrix at LA’s Shrine Auditorium as well as the 1984 Olympic mural at the LA Coliseum, Van Hamersveld has a prolific career that includes work for some of LA’s most favorite brands, including Fat Burger, Kate Mantillini, Capitol Records, and Buzz Magazine.

Beginning February 10 and running through March 31, Signs of Life will span across two of Brookfield’s Downtown LA properties: premiere shopping destination FIGat7th and Bank of America Plaza on Bunker Hill (where the LA Chamber Orchestra will be playing music by the composers Van Hamersveld will portray on the Bank of America building alongside the Farmer’s Market on Fridays during the run of this show).
Both sites will feature vibrant, pop art imagery based on symbols Van Hamersveld conceived in 1997 to represent his take on the signs of life.
