Looking for a Warming Drink for Cold Winter Evenings? Try Callie Collection Mulled Wine Recipe!

Lately, I have found that I am drinking a lot more warm drinks: coffee, tea and other things. If there is a way to heat something up, I am doing it.  I love warm cocktails but taking a serious spirit like rum, whiskey or even tequila is a bit much for something that I might want to drink every couple of days. I  don’t drink a lot and that’s a lot of alcohol. Instead of something that packs a good punch (like spirits), you can turn to  wine for some interesting – and warming- sips that pack in the flavor but are lighter  in alcohol and you don’t need to use as much  wine as you would spirits in the concocting of these beverages.

Here is a recipe from Callie Collection wines featuring their Red Blend wine as the key ingredient in Mulled Wine! This recipe along with other entertaining tips are from Kat Tanita in partnership with Callie Collection Wines!





1. Muslin Bags or Neutral Colored Cheese Cloth

2. Bakers Twine

3. Dried Herb Springs, or fresh whole Cinnamon Sticks for garnish

4. Pretty Hang Tags or Recycled Paper for Recipe


1. 3-4 Cinnamon Sticks

2. 1 Vanilla Bean

3. 30 Cloves

4. 20 Allspice Berries

5. 3 Black Cardamom Pods

6. Optional: Fresh Orange Slices or Dried Orange Peels

7. Optional: Garnish: Star Anise


1. Prepare your Callie Collection Red Blend x Harvest Mulled Wine recipe cards in advance on pretty paper with a handwritten note for a special touch

2. Measure out appropriate number of spices required per each bottle of Callie Collection Red Blend as it pertains to the recipe

3. Fill each muslin bag with appropriate amount of ingredients

4. Loop twine through recipe card and special note

5. Fasten with a tie or pretty fall colored ribbon

6. The perfect gift is ready to go for all of your upcoming fall/winter party needs!

You can skip the prep of the spices if you already have a bag done as listed above .



Spiced mulled wine is a winter favorite — warm, flavorful, and always so comforting!





1/2 Cup  Callie Collection Fresh Red Blend Wine

2 T honey

2 T brand,

1 spice bag (the entire bag)



Pour all ingredients into a pot.
Put pot on stove and heat at medium-high heat for 3 minutes –(not a boil — you don’t want to boil the alcohol out!)
Reduce to a simmer for 15 minutes
Strain, and serve warm with your desired garnishes.

This recipe makes one serving.Note that you can add more of all the ingredients – except the spices– and plan to heat it a bit longer – to serve more people. 

 This should be on your short list of alcoholic sips where you have all the ingredients on hand year-round. You can use the basic ingredients( brandy, wine, citrus,) to make sangria in the summer and mulled wine in the winter.
