Have you ever seen the Virgil brand of sodas? To be honest, I was clueless about the brand until I went to the 2018 Natural Products Expo West in March. It was PACKED.. and when I stopped at the Reed’s/ Virgil’s booth, it was PACKED!! The lines were long for samples but it was well worth it. I will have a separate post on Reed’s but Virgil’s soda – and more particularly their ROOT BEER – is my topic for today. I have a review on the regular Root Beer (with sugar) below, information on the brand and it’s latest launch- sugar-free sodas!!

REVIEW:
When I was at Natural Products Expo West, I went to the booth for both Reed and Virgil products. It was overwhelmingly busy. Because I was booked solid with appointments, I didn’t have time to wait in lines even to try sodas. When the brand heard I hadn’t tried anything from the Virgil line of sodas, they sent me a four pack of their handcrafted root beer.
What they didn’t know is that I LOVE root beer, but I am such a root beer snob that not just “any root beer” will do. I like root beers with a clean taste that aren’t overly sweet. After trying 2 sips of the Virgil’s Root Beer (see above photo), I think I found my holy grail of root beers.
The flavor has real snap courtesy of authentic spices and herbs. Because the brand deals in authentically brewed root beer without chemicals or GMO ingredients, here is no chemical taste to it. The beverage is smooth and almost silky. It has just enough carbonation. It’s 100% pure root beer with a sophisticated taste. The brand is hand-crafted and the flavor is perfect for root beer snobs like me. The good part is that you can drink it straight up without ice. It’s best when well-chilled. This is truly “sipping” root beer!
The only thing left for me to do is buy a least four 4-packs and treat them like the liquid gold that they are. This is a beverage that deserves to be sipped- and not chugged. It’s that good and the flavor is phenomenal!!
