TGIF: Visit Bacari Wine Bars for Amazing Sips, Food and Great Deals!

It’s FRIDAY!! Thank Goodness, we are heading into the weekend. You need to get your besties and their partners together for a visit to this small  chain: Bacaro LA (BacaroLA), Bacari Playa del Rey (Bacari PDR), and Bacari Glendale (Bacari GDL) This  trio of restaurants (each with a full bar)  is owned by brothers Robert and Danny Kronfli, along with Executive Chef Lior Hillel. These wine bars serve Italian style tapas called Cicchetti along with an incredible selection of unusual wines from small producers -available by the glass. Warm and inviting, the restaurants are perfect for a casual meal with the parents, boozy weekend brunch with friends, or late-night bites to impress a date!

Cicchetti

Each Bacari restaurant serves Italian style tapas dishes, and the shared small plates are well portioned – no skimpy servings here!! And these small plates are priced incredibly well too, with all dishes ranging from $9-13. Chef Lior (who trained in his homeland of Israel before working at Jean-George in New York,) adds a Mediterranean flair to his dishes. Each dish has an interesting and tasty presentation. You will hardly see the same ingredients doubled up across the menu!

Plates include hot and cold options, as well as a selection of pizzas. Seasonal highlights and fan favorites that never fail to impress include:

 

Oven-Roasted-Bone-Marrow

 

Oven Roasted Bone Marrow (Capers, panko, sea salt, black pepper, crostini)
Lamb Stuffed Eggplant (seasoned ground leg of lamb, lemon garlic emulsion, lemon chip, scallion)

 

Gorgonzola-Pasta

 

Gorgonzola Pasta (hand-made Tripoline, zucchini, calabrese pepper, crushed pistachio)

Lamb Burger (open-faced, Persian cucumber, shaved radish, crispy black kale, kale tahini, grilled sourdough)

 

Brussel-Sprouts

 

Brussels Sprouts (caramelized, pomegranate molasses, crème fraiche, pomegranate seeds)

 

Bacari-Fries

Bacaro Fries (with chef’s “bcn” sauce, topped with a fried egg)

Hunter’s Mac & Cheese (5-cheese fondue, crispy panko, white truffle oil, scallions).

 

Time to Imbibe

Bacari offers a rotating curation of small-production wines, unique cocktails, and eclectic beers from around the world.
Wines are available in 5oz pours, 8oz pours or by the bottle, and at prices that won’t break the bank.

 

–The beverage program is curated by co-owner Danny Kronfli, who puts extra emphasis on finding suppliers that are unusual but delicious, to help guests expand their own palate as well.

–Spirits and digestif/aperitif are also available, and their sangria is to die for – limes, oranges, apples, orange liquor, pineapple juice, and spices are soaked in wine for two days before being strained and served!

90 Minute Open Bar:
Each location offers a very unique weekend 90 Minute Open Bar where, for a set price per head, guests can enjoy

Sangria

Time starts when the first drink order is served, so you can make the most of this special at any point during your weekend festivities!

Happy Hour:
Though prices and specific menu items vary by location, each restaurant offers a weekday happy hour.

— Bacari GDL, located within the Americana at Brand, also offers Late Night Happy Hour, a perfect way to end your evening after a day of shopping away!

— Bacari PDR also offers additional specials throughout the week, including Wine Down Wednesday (where every glass of wine is $1 cheaper than your previous round – work your way up to a free glass!) and Sangria Sunday (free glass of sangria with a Yelp check-in and happy hour pricing all night)

 

Location, Location, Location!

The small plates restaurants are true neighborhood spots. Though they share the same executive team, each location caters first and foremost to the local community, with slight nuances that prioritize the neighborhood’s lifestyle and palate, such as brunch and happy hour timing. Later this fall, Bacari will debut a fourth location along the incredibly hip West 3rd Street, taking over the former Sofi Greek restaurant with its hidden patio.
