THAT’S A WRAP! The 91st Academy Awards was held Sunday, Feb. 24, at The Dolby Theater in Los Angeles is in the books. Awards season is officially over.

Glitz, glamour and, of course, Lady Gaga ruled the red-carpet as eyes around the globe were fixed on every jewel, gown, clutch and a sky-high heel that glided past the blinding flashes of world’s press. But, for this hairdresser, nothing distracted me from picking my “BEST” hairstyles from this year’s Oscars and the two HOLLYWOOD icons that tied for “WORST” hair!

“BEST TRESSED!

TAYLOR HILL

A nod to Old Hollywood always gets my attention. But, this look from Taylor is flawless, from head-to-toe, perfection. A tuxedo for a girl is tricky. And the old-school wave set hairstyle, the smoldering metallic eye-shadows– the total effect is show-stopping. There is something about her vibe that is so fresh, so modern. This hairstyle is true hairdressing! An incredible execution of a roller-set or curling iron set made to look effortless! 10’s across the board!

AWKWAFINA

There has been so much Studio 54 referencing recently – Disco, this and Disco, that. How super refreshing to see a fun and updated spin on all things sparkly, lavender and iridescent! I just love her center part hair, the loose no-fuss movement and texture of the non-curls and the nonchalance of “I didn’t really make an effort with my hair, but, you know I DID!”
It girls everywhere will be sporting this look all Spring and Summer and old school gals out there will understand me when I say – Doesn’t she kinda look like a long lost cousin of Bianca Jagger from Studio?!?!

LINDA CARDELLINI

One of my dearest friends, the superstar NYC realtor/designer, Nancy Pearson, texted me within minutes of the red-carpet arrivals, “LOVED LINDA’S HAIR” and a favorite private client in Palmetto Bluff, SC agreed, “YES hair, dress too aviary.”
Wow, the power of instant two-cents from your friends. I love it! And, I LOVE Linda’s hair! Bridgette Bardot is an all-time favorite choice when it comes to hair. And her “curtain bang” has always been one of the most requested looks from my clients, for years! Combine that ever-so-sexy bang with a simple, but chic top-knot and you have a must-have hairdo for girls from coast to coast! Prom girls out there, looking for a perfect updo, with bangs?! Here you go!

JENNIFER HUDSON

Maybe my favorite Jennifer look ever! This simple pulled pack low-bun reminds me of the
hairstyles that Duchess Meghan prefers mostly these days. Jennifer is radiant. Her hair is
so understated that is actually seems prettier than ever to me. A perfect compliment to the statement
dress and her megawatt smile. Kudos to her glam-squad. Hands-down the best red-carpet ever
for my fellow AMERICAN IDOL alum (Albeit, we were on the show in different seasons and I was
behind the camera working as a hairstylist for one of the judges, Paula Abdul. And, Jennifer, was,
hmm, I think y’all might remember Jennifer from AI. And, she even went on to win an OSCAR!).

HELEN MIRREN

I don’t want to make this even more painful than it is for most women half her age, but, take note, especially the Real Housewives franchise! Helen Mirren is wearing NO hair extensions! My hairstyling guess for this look – a smooth blowout. #micdrop

REGINA KING

This is probably my personal favorite look going into Spring 2019. A fun lob (long bob), center-part, carefree curls.
This look can go from the red carpet to the car-pool with ease and with Dry Texture spray from Oribe (my favorite)
can last for days. Regina’s OSCAR win for Best Supporting Actress catapulted her to the top of Hollywood’s leading
ladies and this jaw-dropping hairstyle will have beauty editors everywhere booking her for covers of magazines pronto. Hooray for Regina!

“WORST TRESSED”

IT’S A TIE! — ANGELA BASSETT & MILEY CYRUS

Angela Bassett

A rare red-carpet miss! This power-pony tail misses the mark.

Miley Cyrus

These curls look like fresh perm curls. Not my favorite look for Miley, especially, not for the red carpet.
