If you are going to celebrate “Negroni Week”, you might as well do it right! Choose a bar that has a bit of history and is serious about the cocktails they mix up. Here in Los Angeles, we are very serious about cocktails and when a “spirit holiday” turns up, we are even MORE serious about experiencing that holiday apropos to the spirit. Negroni Week is no different and considering the history of the cocktail (Wikipedia) of the Negroni, it’s a classic cocktail that Hollywood celebrities like Orson Wells used to sip (or guzzle). Think of the Golden Age of Hollywood and you will get the idea: a classic bar with great bartenders who have lots of experience mixing up cocktails that are not only traditional but also are very capable at creating great spin-offs of cocktails that reflect their own personality.
The Mermaid bar in DTLA is one such place and it’s run by two women: Arelene Roldan and Katie Kildow who have lots of experience in the food and spirits industry- working at some great places like Lemon Poppy Kitchen, Steampunk Kitchen, and Verdugo Bar. The Mermaid Bar has a distinctive tropical vibe and it’s building a significant fan base in the greater DTLA area. (Downtown Los Angeles)

The ladies over at The Mermaid are gearing up for Negroni Week (June 24-30).
To celebrate the 100th Year Anniversary they’ve crafted up a Mini Negroni Trio Flight made with Campari and Carpano Antica – AND to sweeten the deal, owners Katie Kildow and Arelene Roldan will be donating a portion of the proceeds of each flight sold to the Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation! It’s a win, win #cocktailsforacause
