Brazi Bites are a hot new appetizer/snack food that just about everyone you know will love. These little crispy balls of bread and cheese are so tasty when you get them out of the oven but even if they aren’t hot, they are a great snack. The crispy balls of cheesy bread are known as Pão de queijo, or “cheese bread” in Portuguese.
These crispy bread balls are a staple in Brazil and throughout South America. It’s a delightful snack made with tapioca flour, which makes it naturally gluten-free. In Brazil, it is enjoyed all hours of the day, particularly during breakfast and family gatherings.

I was provided sample bags of the products to test drive these crispy cheesy bread balls. I was given the Cheddar/Parmesan, Asiago/Garlic and the Cinnamon Churro (more of a dessert bread ball!). Getting samples allowed me to try all flavors — which I never would have done all at one time.

The brand was able to get some major supermarket chains to carry them and now Costco has picked up the brand!
I have seen the packages at Costco a couple of times and wondered what they were. They looked like a fun snack or appetizer to eat. I thought it might be something for me to test drive with “the family”.
The brand’s PR reached out to me and I was fascinated by the back story about the Brazi Bites! Who knew there was so much history behind the brand! I was sent a bag of each flavor and as soon as I got the box of the Brazi Bites, I turned on the oven and baked a small quantity to see how they turned out.

These Brazi Bites ballooned up to a crispy round cheesy bread ball. The ones I cut in half are to show texture which is shown below in a close-up shot:
Super crispy and while they might cool off a bit on the exterior crispy shell, the interior cheesy bread is still warm! These Brazi Bites are addicting! You can’t stop with just one I found that cutting them in half extended the pleasure of eating them. I liked them all! The Garlic Asiago and Cheddar Parmesan are definitely savory treats for snacks, appetizers and to accompany a meal. The Cinnamon Churro is darker brown and has cream cheese it in so that the bread is softer and creamier.. and more like a dessert! The almost look like macarons but these are nothing like the macaron cookie- other than the harder shell. These Brazi Bites stay crispy after they have been cooked. If you have leftover bites, you can toss them into a zip lock bag and put them in the refrigerator. They reheat nicely in a low oven. (I tried reheating them 3 x!)
I love Brazi Bites. I know that they vanish quickly after being baked. “The Kid” takes some to school to eat between classes. The husband loves that they are crispy outside and nicely cheesy and chewy inside. These are such a pleasurable food to eat.
