Exposé of the Bizarre Subculture of A-List Party Crashers!
This Book Is the Perfect Stocking Stuffer!
By Kim Rahilly and Stevie Wilson
Just in time for jolly holiday laughs and gift-giving, the witty, literary new comedic memoir, Uninvited: Confessions of a Hollywood Party Crasher (Chicago Review Press 2019) arrives as an ideal Christmas, Kwanzaa or Hanukkah gift. Not only is it bright, glossy red and the perfect stocking-stuffer, it’s so hilarious that it has the power to unite even the most argumentative or politically disparate family members.
Added bonus: when the author’s #LOL celeb encounters are read aloud, this thing is bound to generate a group laugh around the holiday table. (And it’s hysterical to hear Maher read this!)
It’s “looking good” that Uninvited will be made into a reality show, film or TV/streaming series because scores of producers are clamoring about it as we speak. Inside scoop: an executive producer was recently quoted saying:
“We can’t get enough stories about Hollywood and celebrity culture and Uninvited has enough demented characters, backstage anecdotes and surreal plotlines to feed a 100-episode series.”
In fact, it’s so hot that the author’s SpaceX holiday-party-crash chapter is now excerpted on LAWeekly.com; and you’ll see the book featured in the December issues of Los Angeles Magazine, Discover Hollywood and many more outlets.
Adrian Maher!
To report for this book, former LA Times reporter Adrian Maher embedded himself into the bizarre Hollywood-party-crasher subculture, and his witty observations blow the lid off the world of Tinseltown-gala interlopers who employ a fascinating plethora of props and techniques to infiltrate awards shows, premiere after-parties and film festival soirées nightly.
Uninvited is a first-person narrative in the best participatory tradition of gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson, told by a chameleon-like observer who seamlessly blends into the scene as he tipples chilled Moët, nibbles on Wolfgang Puck canapés and banters breezily with showbiz power brokers.
In this revealing exposé, Maher reveals his never-before-told escapades and those of L.A.’s eccentric gatecrasher network including pratfalls over garden walls, wild celebrity interactions and the self-imposed psychological trauma caused by routinely piercing Hollywood’s strict hierarchical boundaries. It’s an everyman’s tale of dodging surveillance cameras, musclebound bouncers, clipboard minders, German shepherds – and the occasional terrifying security interrogation – to report from behind palace gates.
For the Uninvited audiobook, the author personally recorded 25 laugh-out-loud accents and celebrity impressions. Click on the highlighted hyperlinks below for audio snippets.

–Avi Fisher, an ex-Israeli intelligence operative;
–caterer Sam Brody, an expert party tipster;
–womanizer Pepper Grabinski;
–Ten-Minute Mike who’s only after the gift bag;
—Gundala, a six-foot German crasher-stalker;
–Clement von Franckenstein, a bon vivant of noble lineage and
–“The Master,” the most cunning trespasser of all.
Maher details encounters with
–Jane Fonda, –
–Jennifer Aniston,
–Cate Blanchett,
—Paul McCartney and Yoko,
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Adrian Maher
–“Ahh-Nuld,”
Mayor Garcetti and Adrian Maher
LA Mayor Eric Garcetti,
Damon Aper, the spitting image of Steven Seagal!
—and a Steven Seagal look-alike to name a few, as well as tips of the trade such as don’t guzzle drinks, cluster with other crashers or post party pics on social media.
While career crashers were gulping highballs and hoarding freebies, Maher was networking with industry titans that resulted in his flourishing career as a documentary filmmaker who has written, directed, and produced dozens of TV programs for channels including Discovery, History, Travel and NatGeo. Brimming with embarrassing moments, crasher-on-crasher dynamics and infiltration tactics, Uninvited unveils a riveting outside-in view of Hollywood’s rich and famous, making it a compelling read for pop-culture aficionados, entertainment enthusiasts and anyone in need of some serious laughs in trying times.

EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT
Uninvited: Confessions of a Hollywood Party Crasher:
“Aided by a Halloween gallery of fellow rogues and adrenaline junkies, Adrian Maher takes us on a joyous romp through backstage Hollywood dodging security, public relations flacks, and… face to face with Clint, Hef, Arianna, and the rest of Tinseltown’s high and mighty. Deliciously subversive.”
—James Rainey, senior reporter, Los Angeles Times
“Adrian Maher’s gate-crasher capers would make any paparazzi proud: an ear for confrontation, a nose for action, and an eye for exquisite details. Nervy, amusing, and surreal. His Hollywood is a ceaseless and hair-raising series of nightly exploits and daily reckonings.”
—Jennifer Buhl, author of Shooting Stars: My Unexpected Life Shooting Hollywood’s Most Famous
“A wackadoodle journey over, under, and around the velvet rope. A laugh-a-minute page-turner as dramatic as any multi-million dollar blockbuster. Hilarious, gripping, and revealing.”
—Bill Kalmenson, comedian, actor, and host of “A Rebel Without Applause” podcast
“Adrian Maher’s Uninvited is an uproarious account of his party-crashing adventures—and the quirky characters that shared his compulsions. It’s also a…keen commentary on celebrity culture, and an offbeat anthropology of contemporary Los Angeles.”
—Peter Richardson, author of No Simple Highway: A Cultural History of the Grateful Dead
“Used to think great gonzo journalism was dead until I picked up this magnificent trip through the world of hilarious party-crashing wackos and their obsessive weekly tango with class, fame, and hors d’oeuvres.”
—Sam Quinones, author of Dreamland: The True Tale of America’s Opiate Epidemic
“A rollicking tale about a bunch of social wannabes busting down Hollywood’s closed-door industry, pushing boundaries, confronting obstacles, and nonstop risk-taking. Witty and illuminating …a grand narrative more bizarre than any movie script.”
—Rick King, film producer, Point Break
