Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself and take charge. Russian-born singer-songwriter Ksenia (Ka-SIN-ee-uh) learned to take back her power and shares her lessons learned through her 7-track EP, Fire with Fire.
The singer combines electro-pop, R&B as well as traditional Russian folk melody to create seven original songs that tell stories about self-empowerment and taking responsibility for your own happiness. Ksenia co-wrote the songs on her new EP with LA songwriter/producer Mario Marchetti, who has produced songs for Jojo and Demi Lovato. She also co-wrote one of the songs with Trevor Holmes, a semi-finalist on American idol in 2018.
Her Fire with Fire EP comes out in February 2020. Her newest single, “Like It or Not” was released on her Dec 12 birthday. Scroll down to see the video!

More About Ksenia
Ksenia was born and raised in the small town of Nakhodka, Russia. The daughter of a guitar player and pianist, Ksenia was first introduced to Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen/Bohemian Rhapody) at a young age–her first taste of Western music, inspiring a sense of creativity deep within the budding artist.
Ksenia learned classical piano at the age of six. At 13, she began entering musical competitions, further exploring her love of performing. Her powerful vocals and charismatic stage presence are what soon made her a finalist in the national Russian television show, Sing If You Can. (The Sing If You Can show was specific to Russia but didn’t have a long life span!) Later, Ksenia was offered a full scholarship to Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok where she studied advertising.
Ksenia received her MFA in acting and film at the New York Film Academy. There she started making her own short films. She co-wrote, produced, and starred in her own feature film romantic comedy, This Much, where she was awarded Best Actress at the Westfield International Film Festival in the fall of 2018. Ksenia’s love for filmmaking is what allows her to tell stories through her music videos.

Bottom line:
I like Ksenia’s personal style and presentation. She knows how to mold a song to make it her own. Ksenia is smart.. she’s sharp as a tack. You can see it when she does a cover of some of her favorite songs. You can find a slew of them on youtube! The camera loves her both in stills and also in the video. Her confidence is solid and she has a great voice. The great thing about Ksenia is that she’s comfortable being on camera (thanks to her MFA in acting & film) and thus her performances grab your attention because she’s so at ease. I watched at least 6 different videos before I even thought to tackle this post. Personally I am going to listen to more of her music as well as watch her videos (acting and music). Her comfortable stage presence really grabs your attention. Once in character, she really owns the screen.
For someone who is really starting to make a dent in the music business, that’s a pretty powerful way to get attention as well as get the attention of her audience whether on video or on the stage. Ksenia has a chance at a career with some real longevity because of her experience in front of and behind the camera as well as singing. I can’t wait to hear the new EP coming out in February 2020. It’s going to be really interesting!
