Who doesn’t like chocolate cake?
Based on my sources and my queries, very few people will turn down a piece of a great chocolate cake. They might even have it as dinner. Since National Chocolate Cake Day is Monday, January 27, here are a few LA-based restaurants that have some sinfully delish cakes for you to sample! As a person who is a dedicated chocoholic, I am trying to restrain myself from honoring the day. (I am trying to break my sugar & chocolate habits!).
The modern-American seafood and steakhouse, Ocean Prime, located in the heart of Beverly Hills offers an indulgent chocolate cake that is the quintessential ending to an evening of indulging. The Chocolate Cake features housemade chocolate sauce, layers of moist ganache cake, chocolate mousse and a scoop of hand-spun vanilla ice cream to top it off.
The iconic Marina Del Rey restaurant, Cafe Del Rey helmed by Executive Chef Job Carder offers a Royal Chocolate Cake that’s as beautiful as its marina view. Featuring hazelnut dacquoise, feuilletine praline, chocolate mousse, and cocoa glaze, this dessert is a must-try if you’re on the Westside.
The Milky Way’s Chocolate Mousse Pie
As if any excuse is needed to indulge in a rich, satisfying chocolate cake, the Spielberg family’s beloved Pico-Robertson neighborhood restaurant The Milky Way has you covered for all your holiday sweet treat needs with its Chocolate Mousse Pie, featuring Oreo crust and whipped cream ($10) – a simple yet perfect dessert that makes every day feel like National Chocolate Cake Day.
Granville // Devil’s Advocate Flourless Chocolate Cake
To celebrate National Chocolate Cake Day, look no further than the modern-casual collection of restaurants, Granville where you can enjoy a decadent and irresistible treat. Come as you are and indulge in the villager favorite Devil’s Advocate Flourless Chocolate Cake topped with cream, cheese frosting, and port cherry.
Alcove Café is the quintessential Eastside hub for all-day eats and a selection of killer baked goods and cakes. Housed in two historic bungalows surrounded by garden patios, treat yourself to a slice of Alcove’s famous See’s Chocolate Bundt Cake, featuring moist fudge cake made with See’s chocolate drippings, covered with chocolate frosting and topped with large curls of chocolate. Available in a slice or whole, subject to availability.
Now that you looked at all of these yummy, chocolate desserts, which one would you order first?
