National Cocktail Day (Tuesday, 3/24) is going to look a little bit different this year. A lot fewer bars are open to enjoy a drink with friends, and a lot more people at home with the opportunity to perfect the craft of the classic cocktail. I have put together a series of cocktails for you to test drive. Given the current state of the nation and the world, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate National Cocktail Day unless it’s with a bottle of superior champagne, like Perrier-Jouët or Veuve Clicquot. But since most of us can’t either afford those lovely sparkling wines, here are some other things that will be equally lovely.
My first two choices of spirits are from Gray Whale Gin (I love it!) and the Humboldt Distillery spirits. Each has a specific presentation and they are very flexible when it comes to creating cocktails.
Tom Collins
mix Gray Whale Gin,
lemon juice,
simple syrup.
Top with carbonated water.
Gimlet
Strain into the chilled glass of your choice
Greyhound
add ice, vodka, and grapefruit juice.
Stir together and enjoy.
Capecodder
Method:
In a highball glass filled with ice,
add Humboldt Organic Vodka, cranberry juice, and lime juice.
Swirl together,
garnish with a lime wedge.
These cocktails look — and sound– amazing. I can’t wait to try one or two. What kind of cocktails do YOU want to try?
