Introducing CHEETOS® Popcorn, bringing the delicious taste of CHEETOS® to a classic snacking favorite – popcorn! CHEETOS® Popcorn delivers all of the rich, smooth, cheesy flavor you know and love from classic CHEETOS®. Ready to go right out of the bag, it’s popcorn with an added boost of cheesy mischievous flavorful fun.

I have seen a few commercials and ads in magazines and thought that since I am a HUGE Cheetos fan, that I should try the popcorn. I love popcorn and the thought of a Cheetos flavor and popcorn would be heavenly.

SIGH..
( No.. that’s not quite the emphasis I wanted to share with you.)

This is more the feeling that I got when I tried Cheetos Popcorn!

Here’s my take/feeling/ taste test of the new Cheetos Popcorn.

I really LOVE Cheetos. I used to buy small bags of them when I was at UCLA because  I had an addiction to Cheetos. I could go through a large bag in  90 minutes. Not a good sign if you are concerned at all with what you eat.  I was concerned but Cheetos was an “addiction” I couldn’t give up. I figured portion control was the best (and ONLY) way to deal with the problem. So it was one small bag at a time. Because I was on a tight budget that was all I could afford and I only bought them when I felt that celebration was due. And Cheetos has stuck with me for years.  If I buy a bag for my family to eat, it doesn’t last more than 2 days because we all love Cheetos. It’s all about the really snappy crunch and the crunch of Cheetos is so different from peanuts or potato chips. I consider it the tastiest and addictive crunchy snack.

Then I heard about Cheetos Popcorn. I love popcorn too. It’s a great snack and I love the crisp texture.
(I buy bags of Trader Joe’s Movie Theater Popcorn and stash it in the garage so that we don’t all eat all of the bags of popcorn immediately. And that has happened too)

When I was running through my local Ralph’s supermarket, I saw that Cheetos Popcorn was on the rack. I grabbed a single bag and figured this would be a great treat that I had to try ASAP.   The next day, I opened up the Cheetos Popcorn and tried a cup’s worth.
I was shocked.. and not in a good way. It’s not like the best of Cheetos and Popcorn.
Flavor:
It’s definitely Cheetos and it leaves the same orange stain on your fingers.
Crispness:
The flavor coating takes the crispness of the popcorn down a notch or three.  It’s like if you want the Cheetos flavor you have to compromise on the crispness. The popcorn isn’t nearly as crisp and it’s definitely NOT as crisp as regular Cheetos.
Snackability:
Less than spectacular because
1) it leaves an orange stain across keyboards or sheets  (if you are snacking in bed). The stain takes some effort to come out of sheets.

2) The Cheetos popcorn was dropping the coating faster than I could eat the popcorn.
I had 3 paper towels and the stain migrated from the bowl to the towels  and my fingers and was all over the place.

The biggest issue for me was that the lack of crispness that one gets from the original Cheetos is such a disappointment, that
I won’t buy it again. I really thought that they could preserve the Cheetos snap and deliver it on popcorn.
It’s not the same.. not even close.
Consider me so disappointed… I tossed the bag. It’s not really a Cheeto. It’s merely cheesy popcorn.

Have you tried Cheetos Popcorn? What are your thoughts on it? Do you love it? Hate it?
Would you buy it or would you just walk right by it?

Personally I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
Sorry Frito-Lay. You lost me on this one!
