Package theft at this time of year is a very real risk. It’s so easy to shop online but if you are away at work or aren’t always home, you might find you have lost a package.
A new package theft report from SafeWise features a list of the top 10 worst cities for package theft in the US,
and this year LA ranked #10.
This topic makes headlines around this time every year—as Americans begin their holiday shopping, package thefts skyrocket.
—This year (2020), package theft is already higher than ever as the pandemic has driven most consumers to stay home and do all their shopping online.

Some of the Safewise survey findings:
We surveyed 1,000 Americans (age 18+) to learn more about their experiences with online shopping and package theft this year (as well as specifically during the pandemic).
–Nearly 50% of Americans have experienced package theft in the past year. (That’s over 10% higher than in 2019.)
–Among package thefts that occurred in the past year, over 75% happened during the pandemic.
–67% of Americans say they shop online more since the pandemic started.
–More than 50% of Americans get packages delivered at least once a week.
–63% of Americans say the pandemic has made them more concerned about package theft.
–68% of package thefts occur at single-family houses.
–Less than half of those who experienced package theft took a proactive measure like using a package locker or installing home security to prevent it from happening again.

In addition to the survey, Safewise compiled a list of the Top 10 worst metros for package theft.
Compared to last year, many of the cities have remained on top. However, there are also some new ones.
