A”MUST Watch” Short Film:”Thursday Appointment”. 2.2 Minutes for this Award-Winner!

While you might not be able to understand the cast’s exact words;   the gestures and subtitles in this dubbed-over version work
to convey the beautiful (and rich with meaning) message of this short award-winning film made by 20-year-old Iranian filmmaker, Syed Mohammad Reza Kheradmand.

The film, called Thursday Appointment, recently won an award at the Luxor African Film Festival, a non-profit organization that encourages and celebrates film-making from Africa.
The powerful short movie depicts an older married couple reciting the Poem of Hafez to one another in the car when they stop at a red light. They notice a couple fighting loudly with their young daughter in the back seat. The older couple make a gesture that says a lot about their own marriage, and about how married love can help reconcile and restore others around us.
Incredibly short in length, this film illustrates the ability to traverse the bounds between the physical and the spiritual world, and build community through tradition. Each character in the film is representative of an emotion or archetype. The relationships between the characters are additionally archetypal configurations in their own rights, and representative of the ways these configurations influence and impact each other. Each of the physical objects also carries with it particular meaning, as the physical objects evolve into different things, and are exchanged between characters.
The meaning and depth of this film is incredible considering it is just over 2 minutes long.   This film says a ton about marriages (and how to treat your partner despite the problems or because of the problems.) in a very short period of time. So much so that the film had me full of tears.  It’s that meaningful.

The point of this movie is very clear in this film.  As the couple recipe the poem of Hafez, the situation changes quickly but in very meaningful ways.
You have a minute in your busy day. Grab a cup of coffee and watch this. Watching it twice helps underscore the themes!)
