My idea of “mixing it up” is a bit different than most. I am going to skip the bottle of wine and very likely the candy too because candy doesn’t really feel special like a great cocktail! And I will be mixing up — and sharing– a couple of cocktails!
Here’s a great cocktail recipe that’s super-easy to make. Plus this cocktail has a unique spirit that is used in making this tasty sip. The spirit brand is Rhum Barbancourt Réserve Spéciale.
I would suggest that you get a bottle of this Rhum Barbancourt just so that you can try making a variety of cocktails.
Given that we have a new president as of today, it’s a bit of a celebration. And you mixing up a great cocktail featuring the Réserve Spéciale makes it even more special.
This specific Rhum variety from Rhum Barbancourt is very unique.
Estate Reserve goes through 3 different types of oak barrels over its 15 years aging. This specific process develops soft scents of caramelized brown sugar, and a body that allows its flavors to spread slowly and elegantly over the palate. With a long finish that begins sweet and ends with the recurrence of citrus and spice accents, this spirit is ideal for sipping. (aged 15 years, 86 proof.)
The cocktail in mind is called BLUSHING RHUM.. and it’s made with Rhum Barbancourt Réserve Spéciale.

BLUSHING RHUM:

Ingredients:
2 ¼ oz Rhum Barbancourt Réserve Spéciale (5 Star), Aged 8 Years
1 oz fresh lemon juice
1 ¼ oz simple syrup
1 ½ oz diced cucumber
1 large strawberry
Method:
Muddle cucumber and strawberry in a cocktail shaker,
Add the remaining ingredients and shake vigorously with ice.
Strain over fresh ice into an old fashioned glass.
Garnish with a strawberry slice.
This will be one terrific cocktail … especially if you are wishing for sunshine and/or a vacation in the sun. This cocktail will have you feeling like you are elsewhere!
