LA-Story.com Rewind! Revisit 2013’s St. Patrick’s Day with Sambazon Smoothies + Whiskey or Beer!

This post is from 2013.. and was a synopsis of my experience at 2013’s Natural Products Expo West.
I was so glad I went because thanks to Rachel Kay of RKPR, I met some of the people from Sambazon.
Read on to get the details PLUS see the videos of me mixing up some Sambazon-based cocktails!

One week ago I was at the Natural Products Expo West covering hot products and new trends but also networking with people that I have met/known but not seen in quite a while. The best part was seeing Rachel Kay of RKPR and meeting some of her clients. Wow!! Cool stuff– one of them being perfect for ST. Patrick’s day!! Nope not a spirit but essential to making a good cocktail is the array of ingredients that you get to create the cocktail beyond spirits. Typically you want the drink green but because the ingredients in this key ingredient: Sambazon’s SuperGreens Organic Smoothie!! This is a pretty new product and I tried it *(and 3 others– 2 not out there yet) and it was great! This has kale, ginger and lots of other great ingredients– and it tastes great!

Each bottle packs a good source of fiber, over two servings of fruits and veggies, plus powerful antioxidants from Amazon fruits ike Açaí and Acerola. Supergreens is the ultimate in healthy green goodness with no added sugars.

Then after tasting a bit more realized that it could be a base for a salad dressing. (recipes later) and then I thought about cocktails.

Rachel took me over to another client and at that same booth was the CMO for Sambazon, Greg Fleishman who gave me scoop and picked my brain about the products. When he heard that I was an amateur mixologist, he was hot to get something for St. Paddy’s day for their website and I am here to give you the recipe which they already have + a video of me mixing up small portions of this. The actual amount of ingredients are posted below because the video wasn’t accurate. That was me– one week ago– actually creating the drinks. This is yummy stuff.

Ingredients:
Depending on how many people you are serving– you need at least 2 bottles of Sambazon SuperGreens smoothies per person.
Jameson Irish Whiskey (or any other blend or 2 malts Irish Whiskey)
Lagunitas IPA beer or any other beer you might like.
(Want to use Guinness? Go for the gusto– because I didn’t! Just let me know what you think!)
Suggested tools: lots of ice, short highball glasses or martini glasses, a shot glass or a liquor measuring tool, and a long spoon to stir everything or if you really want to go for it, a martini shaker).
Garnish:  chopped cucumber, grated carrot,

Recipe: Sambazon’s St. Patrick’s Toast!

Spirit:  Jameson Irish Whiskey

Fill the shaker or the glass with ice.
6 oz Sambazon Supergreens (what’s green about it is the kale in the drink!)
1.5-2 oz Jameson Irish Whiskey (to taste!)

Stir briskly with a long-handled small bowl spoon or if you are using a shaker, shake well for about 60 seconds.
Pour into a tall glass or pour into a martini glass
Garnish with chopped cucumber and grated carrots

Note this drink has more kick than the Lagunitas IPA version, but will be more true to the Irish spirit of the day.

Sambazon’s St Patricks Fizz!
Lagunitas IPA Beer Cocktail

Fill the shaker or the glass with ice.
6-8 oz Sambazon Supergreens (what’s green about it is the kale in the drink!)
2-2.5 oz Lagunitas IPA (to taste!)

Stir briskly with a long-handled small bowl spoon or if you are using a shaker, shake well for about 60 seconds.
Pour into a tall glass or pour into a martini glass
Garnish with chopped cucumber and grated carrots

Note this drink has more kick than the Lagunitas IPA version but will be more true to the Irish spirit of the day.
