There’s a reason why there is always a jar of oatmeal cookies in most coffee shops. Having an oatmeal cookie or two with some coffee is a treat you never know you need.

This pairing is great whether you are craving a warm cup of cappuccino or an iced cold Americano.

Oatmeal cookies are meant to tap the coffee back for some flavor and texture on your own time.

3. Croissant

You can do it like the French –enjoying some outdoor coffee with plain butter croissants. This famous pastry is a Godsend for coffee lovers. The right amount of crunch and texture goes well with coffee from Peru or Colombia.

These kinds of coffees are known to have a sweet body. It pairs well with butter croissants because it’s not acidic, and it does not overwhelm the croissant with an empowering flavor.

4. French Toast

Your mocha latte will enjoy having some French toast on the side for company. This pairing is great for brunch with your mom or your best friend.

The great thing about the French toast is that you can have it as a classic one, or have a gourmet recipe of the French toast with some salted caramel, and either will go so well with your coffee of choice.

5. Donut

A donut is a staple food to pair with a warm cup of Joe. There are varieties of donuts all over the country, and it is just great for any coffee kind as well. Just like donuts, most muffins are great with a warm cup of coffee. One of the best relationships you can come up with is chocolate muffins and some Costa Rican coffee, at your favorite time of the day.

14. Scones

Scones are known to be paired with tea, but you can rebel against this relationship and pair it with coffee instead. Blueberry cones pair well with some cappuccino while the plain ones are best with some nut-based coffee.

Breakfasts with pancakes and maple syrup are so much better when you have it with a cup of coffee. Some café latte or a cappuccino will pair best with your tower of pancakes and maple syrup on the side.

Savory or sweet food choices will always hit the right spot when paired with a good cup of coffee. You can never go wrong with something sweet or tasty and a cup for breakfast and for an afternoon delight with friends.

These pairings go together because the food compliments the coffee. It takes the bitter taste and mellows it out, embracing you for a great day ahead.

The simple rule on food and coffee pairings is just to follow your palate. Nothing is more important than enjoying what you have with your coffee.

There is no hard rule on what food tastes best, as long as the combination suits your taste. But do consider the strength of the coffee and its acidity to make sure your food won’t compete with that.
