Celebrity hairstylist Peter Butler Does Jamie’s Hair with Leonor Greyl hair products.

Here’s the upside to a remote awards ceremony:
“We were at Jamie’s place in Brooklyn and it was raining today, so luckily she didn’t have to go outside to get in the car,” says hairstylist Peter Butler.
It was especially fortunate because Butler wanted the actress, nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for her work in Lovecraft Country, to have “real awards look,” despite the unusual circumstances.
(The SAG Awards were recorded on Wednesday, March 31 and will air on Sunday, April 4.)
“We wanted to do classic American girl roller-set style: bouncy, full, healthy hair. Like 1980s Calvin Klein, but a modern version where the ends are softer, less curled,” explains Butler.
After rough-drying Jamie’s hair to about 80% dry, Butler sprayed in Leonor Greyl Voluforme. “It works as a setting spray with great hold, but it’s super-soft, not sticky,” says Butler.
Then he used a mixed-bristle brush to blow-dry Jamie’s hair. Next, he applied, “the tiniest bit of Leonor Greyl Éclat Naturel styling cream to the ends so that when I went to curl it, the hair would look super healthy when brushed out.”
Next Butler gave Jamie a center part, grabbed a 1 1/4″ barrel curling iron, and started creating waves from the top-down, curling everything away from the face. Then he wrapped the base of each curl with a fatter curling iron.
“I wanted it to have a stronger wave pattern on top and then softer on the bottom.” says Butler. He then curled each piece and pinned them up while Jamie had her makeup applied. “About 30 minutes before we needed to be ready, I brushed her hair out and smoothed the front sections with a blowdryer and a little more Leonor Greyl Éclat Naturel so they wouldn’t be too curly.”
Then Butler topped off the look with Leonor Greyl Laque Souple, a light-hold hairspray, and ran a wide-tooth comb through her hair.
“Everything just fell into place,” Butler says.
