Rum is a very popular spirit, particularly during the summer. Creating a rum-based cocktail might require time and a few extra ingredients, but you would learn what rum is and why it is so good and how to construct an innovative cocktail!
Rum Runner
The Rum Runner dates back to the 1950s when it was created at a Tiki bar called Holiday Isle in Islamorada, Florida.
Like many a tropical cocktail, it incorporates rum, banana liqueur, and grenadine.
It also uses blackberry liqueur, considerably less common, which adds depth of flavor and even a slight tannic touch.

Ingredients
- 1-ounce light rum
- 1-ounce navy-strength rum
- 1 ounce banana liqueur (such as Giffard Banane du Bresil)
- 1/2 ounce blackberry liqueur (such as Giffard Creme de Mure)
- 2 ounces pineapple juice
- 1-ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
- 1/2 ounce grenadine
- Garnish: brandied cherry
- Garnish: pineapple wedge
Steps

Add all ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled.

Strain into a hurricane glass filled with crushed ice.

Garnish with a skewered brandied cherry and pineapple wedge.
Sweet Liberty’s The Florida Cocktail

Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz. Bacardi Anejo Cuatro
- .25 oz. green crème de menthe
- .25 oz. lime juice
- 3 dashes of saline
- Mint sprig (for garnish)
Directions:
In a highball/collins glass, build over 3 ice cubes.
Fill halfway with fluffy pineapple juice.
Stir again and top with more pineapple.
Garnish with a mint sprig.
Byblos Miami’s Turkish Sener

Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz. Ron Zacapa
- 3 oz. Chandon Brut
- .25 oz. lime juice
- 3 dashes Angostura Bitters
- Lemon wheel (for garnish)
- Mint spring (for garnish)
Directions:
Combine all ingredients then shake,
Strain into a coupe glass,
Garnish with a lemon wheel and mint sprig.
Vinya’s Lightkeeper’s Punch

Ingredients:
- .75 oz spiced rum
- .75 oz light rum
- .25 oz. Jamaican Pimento Dram
- .5 oz lime juice
- .25 oz toasted coconut pineapple reduction
- Jackfruit (for garnish)
Directions:
Add all ingredients into a shaker,
Strain into glass with regular ice.
Garnish with jackfruit.
