As they say, two is better than one! One can certainly witness the synergy in the creative collaboration between Billboard-charting music producer Macau and Grammy-nominated vocalist Tabitha Fair. Both artists recently co-wrote, recorded, and released a new dance anthem, entitled “Fly” that is sailing up the Dance charts.

Originally from Brazil, Macau first entered the music scene in 2000 as part of the dynamic production team, ALTAR.
He reached #1 on Billboard’s charts for Dance Club Play in 2007 with American singer Jeanie Tracy. He has achieved six other Top 20 Billboard Dance hits. His music has been licensed by major movie studios and international brands, including Universal Studios and Abercrombie & Fitch.

These two dynamic artists met through a mutual friend and fellow music industry pro, Lionel Vargas, and they hit it off instantly.

We had the opportunity to sit down with both artists to talk more about their new single “Fly” and about the creative process for this new song!
Interviewer:
Congratulations on the release of your new single, “Fly!” The song seems very timely, given the world has been cooped up at home
due to the pandemic and the lyrics encourage us to ‘FLY ‘ across the sky” Was this song born out of the pandemic? Was this the intended
meaning behind the lyrics?
Tabitha:
Yes, the song was born out of the pandemic. We had to write about it. And…..Yes, this was the intended meaning behind the lyrics.
It was and is still such a surreal time in our world. That’s why Macau and I felt we needed to write something positive, uplifting, and fun!
“Fly” is a universal message of hope, freedom, inclusiveness, and love.
Macau:
The song is an invitation to a ride towards a new world. The whole globe suffered from the pandemic, and our mission was to
deliver a song that could bring some kind of relief. If music makes people come together, that’s what we wanted; even if it was not physically, but
emotionally. We both were focused on something that could bring a timeless message of hope and happiness. I think all that lockdown process
was a good opportunity to try and explore other things. Obviously, no one could go on tours, so “Fly” was a nice start to stretch our arms
and see what other things we could do to make people happy.
Interviewer:
What was the songwriting process like for this song?
Tabitha:
The songwriting process was effortless. Working with Macau was truly joyous. He allowed me to shine on this lyric and vocal.
Bottom line, we clicked!
Macau:
We wanted to create something connected with the 80’s vibe. We also wanted a song that everyone could celebrate and dance at home,
in the car or anywhere else. A real ‘feel-good‘ House Music. The lyric invites people for a ride to happiness. We wanted to bring back the
same flavor of nightclub dance floors of the last decade. So “Fly” is a dance-pop song that also has a mission to unite people.
A timeless song that suggests you open your arms and let your spirit guide you to a better place.
Interviewer:
With both of you having illustrious careers individually, why did you decide to come together and write this song?
What were some of the challenges and benefits of working together?
Tabitha:
We came together to write this song because of our dear friend and Executive Producer LP Vargas. LP had a feeling that Macau and I
would hit it off, and he was right. Thanks to LP, “Fly” was born. I think the main challenge for us was traveling and actually getting in a room together
because of Covid. It’s a miracle that we were able to pull it off. I think the main benefit of working together is writing“Fly”.
The icing on the cake is having Macau as a lifelong friend and creative partner!!
Macau:
I met Tabitha through our executive producer, Vargas a.k.a LP. It’s love at first sight. We both recognized in ourselves that we had something to deliver
to the world. Tabitha has a brilliant background but more than that her voice is really powerful. We made some Zoom meetings to finish the lyrics and
production. Then we both flew to LA to record the song at Ricky Rebels Studio. Since the beginning, we have had a great bond and the studio session was magical.
Tabitha naturally evokes that feel-good vibe. And the biggest benefit of working with her is her love for the music and of course, the lyrics connected us
immediately with the same feeling.
Interviewer:
I also read that “Fly” has flown up to the Top 20 on the Starfleet Dance Chart! Congratulations on that!
Do you have plans to perform it live together?
Tabitha:
Thank You So Much! I am so excited that “Fly” is in the top 20! We don’t have plans to perform it live together at the moment, but hopefully, soon we will.
Macau:
Of course, we do. I’m glad that many venues are set up now and willing to accommodate live music with DJs and singers. I can’t wait to be back on stage, |
especially if I am there with Tabitha.
Interviewer:
You also have a two-volume album of “Fly Remixes” by top DJs from around the world, including Grammy-winning Hex Hector. How did you
choose the DJs to do the remixes, or did they choose to get involved themselves?
Tabitha:
Yes, we do, and we are so honored that they are all involved! LP Vargas, our Executive Producer, reached out to all of the top DJ’s around the globe.
He’s the one responsible for getting Hex and all of the other Amazing DJs on this project.
Macau:
First, we wanted to get a team of global producers that could print their talent on this song. LP was in charge of getting them all together.
We have talented producers from Brazil, USA, and France. It’s a great honor to have all those brilliant minds behind each remix.
They had the freedom to express their vision and we all loved the results.
Interviewer:
Will there be another song or project that you will be collaborating on together in the future?
Tabitha:
Yes!! For sure. We’re already discussing titles and musical ideas for our next release. So be
on the lookout in 2022.
Macau:
We definitely will make a new song together. I actually was on the phone with her last week trying to set up our agendas and start creating something new. |
