D.B Leighton is back with a great new poem that he said was inspired by B.B. King. As I read this poem several times, I can almost hear B.B. King playing some soulful music and singing these words.
“Stifle Me…”
Seems I can’t go anywhere,
without a mask,
my baby’s got distance,
I can’t even ask.
I’m so sad and lonely,
come on in and stifle me,
our whole lives got sanitized,
come on in and stifle me.
I’ve got the couch,
she’s got the bed,
the whites of my eyes,
have gone crimson red.
I can’t get no sleep,
come on in and stifle me,
I despair for some air,
come on in and stifle me.
Now it seems like I’m whinin’,
but it’s all in jest,
without proper cover,
we can’t do our best.
We’ve got to be heroes,
come on in and stifle me,
it gives me zeal when we conceal,
come on in and stifle me.
We tell no lies when we disguise,
come on in and stifle me.
Got to obscure until we cure,
come on in and stifle me.
