The lustrous noir gin turns to a beautiful, romantic shade of lavender when mixed with tonic. Below are a couple of cocktail recipes. One is a recipe for the Scapegrace Black Signature Serve cocktail. The tonic elevates the botanical flavors of the gin; the green apple cleanses the profile, making this cocktail highly refreshing and crisp.
About SCAPEGRACE Black Gin:
SCAPEGRACE BLACK GIN (SRP $38.99) begins, like all quality gins: with intense juniper and the addition of premium, exotic botanicals. The master distiller used a combination of local sweet potato, Aronia berries, pineapple, and saffron, as well as Butterfly pea flower, (they sourced this ingredient from Southeast Asia) to give Scapegrace Black a flavor profile that has wowed bartenders and gin fans worldwide.
To craft a black gin, the temperatures must be absolutely precise, and the sequences have to be very specifically defined. The result is a gin with an exciting nose of pineapple and lemon, followed by spicy juniper. The flavor profile of Scapegrace Black is unique; marrying a gin drinker’s love of juniper with something dark, delightfully devious, and beautifully unexpected. The sip is full-bodied on the palate, with unctuous pepper and oil, a hint of mint, and dreamy undertones of starch mingling with tropical fruits. The finish will give you visions of freshly mowed grass, sweet earth, and herbs.

RECIPE:
Ingredients:
1 2/3 oz Scapegrace Black Gin
5 oz Tonic Water
Slice of Green Apple
METHOD:
Fill a glass with ice.
Add SCAPEGRACE BLACK GIN,
Top with tonic water,
Garnish with green apple.
*Note: the drink will turn from Black to Red.
Scapegrace Black Chokeberry Fizz
This cocktail doesn’t have any tonic, but it sounded so lush that I had to share it!
A berried & floral-based riff on the classic gin fizz: it takes its name from the berry family the Aronia berry comes from. This fizz enlivens the idea of showcasing Aronia, its depth of texture & its floral notes. It’s clean, bright & floral!
RECIPE
1 2/3 oz Scapegrace Black
3 dash Hibiscus Bitters
1/3 oz Egg white/Aquafaba#
1 oz Fresh Lime,
1/2 oz Sugar Syrup (Sugar Syrup/Simple Syrup: Equal Parts Sugar & Water. *See below on how to create a simple syrup)
*Topped with Soda

METHOD
Add all ingredients –except the soda– to a shaker tin,
Dry shake,
Pack the tin with ice and hard shake for 10-15 seconds
Take a chilled highball or fizz glass, and add 50 ml of Soda water to the glass
Fine strain the cocktail (in the tin) into the glass until the cocktail lifts out of the glass,
Garnish with dried plums or hibiscus tea.
Tools & Glassware: Highball or Fizz Glass
*Add both ingredients to a mixing jug or glass and stir until the sugar has dissolved.
