New research by Bookies.com has ranked the NBA’s most dedicated fans of the 2021-22 season, through analysis metrics such as Game Attendance and Social Media engagement, to highlight which team really has the most diehard fans. The research revealed that the Los Angeles Lakers had the most dedicated fans in the league, with a Dedication Index Score of 78.24. The top 5 Most Dedicated Fanbases are as follows:
- Los Angeles Lakers – 78.24
- Chicago Bulls – 66.56
- Golden State Warriors – 62.43
- New York Knicks – 56.99
- Brooklyn Nets – 52.38

The New Orleans Pelicans and Oklahoma City Thunder fanbases sit at the bottom of the ranking
While winning the NBA Finals is merely a pipe dream for millions of basketball fans, it doesn’t stop dedicated supporters across America from
encouraging their favorite team week in, week out.
From attending away games, to simply sharing a social media post, fans can show their devotion in many ways, but are some NBA fanbases more committed to their team than others?
When the going gets tough, which fans are most likely to stick around?
By integrating a variety of weighted metrics focusing on attendance levels, win percentages, online ticket searches, and more, Bookies.com has ranked the NBA’s
most dedicated fans of the 2021-22 season, to highlight which team really has the most diehard fans.
The LA Lakers have the NBA’s most dedicated fans of the 2021 season
According to the index, taking the top spot as the NBA’s most dedicated fanbase of the 2021 season is the LA Lakers – receiving the highest index score of 78.24 out of 100.
Winners of the 2020 NBA championship, the Lakers sit comfortably at the top of the ranking, boasting the 2nd highest away attendance record (96.2%)
and the highest search volume for online tickets during the season (34,000 searches a month). (That’s pretty impressive!!!)
Moving down the ranking, the Chicago Bulls (66.56 out of 100) and Golden State Warriors (62.43 out of 100) make up the remaining top three spots.
While Bulls fans take the crown for greatest away attendances (97.3%), Warriors don’t fall too far behind in 3rd (96.1%).
Additionally, Bulls fans were also making moves on social media, with the Bulls official Instagram page receiving follower growth of 18.14%
since the start of the season – the most significant growth in the league.

–Ranked 30th and 29th, respectively, the New Orleans Pelicans (23.94 out of 100) and Oklahoma City Thunder (25.76) sit rock bottom of the table.
–With one of the worst records this season, Thunder fans haven’t been flocking to away games – having the 3rd worst away attendance this year (87.2%).
While the Pelicans have fared better on the court, their social media figures have been some of the worst in the league.
Their social media growth (2.54%) and engagement rates (0.2%) over the season being both the 2nd lowest in the league, fans aren’t showing their love online as much as they could be.

Bookies.com NBA’s dedication Score Index was created by integrating a variety of metrics:
- Average Away Attendance – The average fan attendance percentage for away games during the 2021 season.
- Dedication Score – The difference between overall attendance rates and win percentages throughout the 2021 season.
- Social Engagement – Average Instagram engagement levels over the season (Oct 21 – Apr 22).
- Monthly Search for Tickets – Average monthly search volumes on Google for tickets during the 2021 season in the United States (Oct 21 – Apr 22).
- Social Media Growth – Follower percentage growth (or decline) during the 2021 season (Oct 21 – Apr 22).
- Online Interest – Each team’s Wikipedia page views over the season (Oct 21 – Apr 22)
To create the NBA dedication index, the above factors were utilized.
–The ‘Average Away Attendance’, ‘Dedication Score’, Social Engagement’ and ‘Monthly Searches for Tickets’ factors were analyzed. Each of these factors were weighted with a score of 10 with a maximum score of 40.
–Following this, ‘Social Media Growth’ and ‘Online Interest’ were then analyzed. These factors were weighted with a score of 5 with a maximum score of 10.
—Each factor was calculated with the final index score being out of 50. This was then doubled to allow for a total index score out of 100.
