Here’s a Product that Actors Are Using to Cool Off: Pause Well-Aging’s Cooling Mist
It took a lot of Pause Well-Aging’s Cooling Mist to keep the actors of NOPE — this summer’s hottest movie — chill (literally).
If you’ve seen Jordan Peele’s latest number-one hit, you know that a lot of the action takes place fighting monsters in the blazing sun of
the desert, amidst swirling dust storms. That’s a recipe for overheating!
But not on the set of NOPE, thanks to the movie’s lead makeup artist, Tym Buacharern.

Imagine what it was like hanging on that cable swinging in the hot sun! That person was sweating in the heat.
(Imagine that person on the cable was sweating to get down to the ground too!)
Buacharern came upon the Cooling Mist in his trailer (where he was hiding from the heat). He sprayed it on his wrist and the nape of his neck and
realized it kept him cool long after he stepped out into the sunlight. Soon, he was spritzing it on lead actors: Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer and
Brandon Perea to help them stay cool.
…It wasn’t long before the crew members and Jordan Peele, himself, were requesting the miracle mist, too.
“I felt like a dealer!” Buacharern says.
The intense, three-month shoot took place in Agua Dulce, north of Los Angeles, and it was hot.
“I don’t think we had a day under 90 degrees,” Buacharern says.
Fun Fact (and a secret on how the movie was being shot!)
Many of the nighttime scenes in the movie were actually filmed in the day (and later digitally transformed into darkness), which meant that the actors
were super sweaty and led to another discovery involving the Cooling Mist…
“Often, I sprayed the Cooling Mist onto the clothing of the actors since I knew they could look sweaty anyway,” Buacharern says.
Plot twist:
When Buacharern re-misted the clothing of the actors, the cooling sensation from the menthol derivative in the spray was reactivated
in their clothing, pleasantly refreshing them.
Even if you’re not running from terrifying creatures in the desert, if you’re having trouble beating this heat (and, really, who isn’t?),
