CABANE (www.fromcabane.com) is a California-based, French-inspired floral design studio for people who like to keep it local.
CABANE offers a uniquely French, effortlessly chic, and refined je ne sais quoi to its floral creations; an opportunity to bring a un petit peu of classic, Parisienne style to mothers
across California.
Designed with a certain je ne sais quoi, Collection Maman by CABANE (which means treehouse in French) is both effortlessly chic and eco-friendly.
“Our signature style is a French art de vivre meets California carefree vibes with a poetic touch,” says Nolwenn Richard, the French founder of CABANE.
“Flowers are an important part of our social and style language in France,” says Nolwenn. “When I moved to California, I could not find the floral aesthetics and experiences I loved so much in France, the bunches carried in arms and baskets, the simple sophistication of a garden-style bouquet adorning a dining table, that perfectly imperfect look and understated elegance, the unique story-telling created in rhythm with the seasons and so I founded CABANE.”
Why Local Flowers Say I Love You, More
Unlike most conventional, independent florists and flower-buying platforms, CABANE exclusively uses locally and domestically grown flowers, in season, and sustainable design practices, including the non-use of floral foam and single-use plastic packaging— none of which is compostable.
The 3 photos below are showing off the floral styles that you can get from CABANE in
Newport Beach, CA. for Mother’s Day. (based on availability).
Here are some bouquets you might want to give to Mom (or if YOU are a Mom, you should
give yourself a gift of long-lasting flowers.
Stevie’s Note: My personal choice of the flowers shown above is the last one. I love
having a wide range of colors!
For all of you mothers who are reading this (or someone who thinks that their mother should get some flowers for Mother’s Day) , CABANE flowers are really amazing!
About CABANE:
Instead of imports—which comprise 80 percent of the flowers flown in for Mother’s Day
from across the globe—CABANE exclusively uses local and domestically grown flowers, to help support local farmers.
Its Collection Maman showcases the best of seasonality across the US — a mix of
American-grown peonies, ranunculus, wax flowers, and scabiosa (final selection
will depend on availability of locally-grown flowers). And unlike conventional florists, CABANE implements sustainable design practices—including up-cycling and repurposing excess inventory (ie naturally air-dried flowers), the non-use of floral foam, and ensuring
all packaging is compostable or recyclable,
The environmental and social impacts of conventional and fast flowers, which are expected to generate about $3 billion in sales, include massive carbon emissions from refrigerated transport, the widespread use of toxic chemical pesticides, and a poorly compensated labor force, comprised largely of women.
In deference to Mother Nature, CABANE’s Collection Maman includes an eco-friendlier and more loving gift lineup:
• A hand-tied fresh flower bouquet boasting beautiful seasonal flowers, ranging from $59 to $99 [comes in 3 sizes: medium for $59, large size for $79, extra-large for $99]
• A 3-month floral subscription for a gift that keeps on blooming: a bouquet of seasonal fresh flowers, delivered to her door once a month for 3 months. Available in 3 sizes. Starts at $55 per box for a medium size, $75 for a large size and $95 for an extra-large size.
• An everlasting flower bouquet of dried flowers for $79
• A vintage-inspired floral candle. Hand-poured natural coconut wax candle with a crackling wooden wick and a light effervescent champagne scent combined with sweet raspberry notes and decorated with dried flowers. The candle comes in a vintage-inspired white glass vessel with lid for $49
• A stunning wall wreath featuring natural air-dried flowers and silk ribbons for $69
Little Known Flower Facts
The majority (80 percent) of flowers sold across the US are imported from countries across the globe (mainly from Colombia, Ecuador, and Holland), generating massive carbon emissions. To make matters worse, most conventional floral arrangements are designed in floral foam, a non-recyclable, non-compostable, single-use plastic (phenolic resin) that endures indefinitely in the landfill—and whose micro-particles contribute to environmental pollution.
“There’s no reason flowers should travel thousands of miles to decorate your home, especially when they grow close to home—which they do across the US from about April through November,” says Nolwenn. “We believe in the beauty of seasonality. All our creations are sustainably crafted from American-grown flowers and eco-conscious materials. We believe this approach yields a more thoughtful gift, one that’s unique, chic and respectful (sans plastic).”
