Summer Is Hot and So is RASHTA Men’s Wear! Check Out

Rashsta Clothing for Men!

Rastah is a premier South Asian artisanal urban wear brand that aims at decontextualizing and reinterpreting South Asian heritage and artisanship. The garment is an academic pursuit, the site where Western silhouettes
and traditional Eastern motifs, contemporary art, and Mughal miniature, Stories of exodus, all are brought into conversation with each other. The garment is, like most things, political, and has profound regional and
global consequences. While the inspiration is frequently transnational, each collection is imagined, sourced, and crafted in Pakistan.

THE FOUNDERS:

Rastah was founded in 2018 by cousins Zain, Ismail, and Adnan Ahmad, who are based out of Lahore, Pakistan. Zain, the creative director of the label, grew up in London, Toronto, and Vancouver as well, but is consistently inspired by the city.

 The RASHTA  CONCEPT:

Most of the printing techniques are done using hand-carved wooden blocks. To revive these forms of artisanship, we have to reinterpret them. It’s something that really hasn’t been done before in this country.

Stevie’s comment:
Printing techniques that use hand-carved wooden blocks is an ancient technique that gave
clothing and art-work definition, and it often tells
part of a story.  Learning the technique to
hand-carve wooden blocks means that the wood will emerge with the same hand-carved look
that has survived for thousands of years.

Made from ultra-soft cotton, this tee boasts an oversized fit for ultimate comfort. The hand-woven patches on the front and back feature graffiti-style artwork and Urdu typography, inspired by the graffiti often seen in public bathrooms and clubs.

‘Paray Hutt’ Patchwork Black T-Shirt (Go Away)

The front patch reads “Paray Hutt”  while the back patch features a snake with a skull, symbolizing the betrayal of those who were once trusted.

Broken Glass’ Knit Polo

The Abstract Pattern Knit Polo is a bold and captivating addition to Rastah’s collection. Rendered in various shades of pink, orange, and black, it boasts an abstract pattern and features the Rastah logo on the front, reflecting a distinct aesthetic.

I think that both of these shirts are amazingly crafted. The ability to get a  shirt done with such an interesting pattern and  marrying the  design with the hand-carved wood blocks make these shirts
something unique and incredibly beautiful.

03. OUR MANUFACTURER

Most of the printing techniques are done using hand-carved wooden blocks.

To revive these forms of artisanship, we have to reinterpret them. It’s something
that really hasn’t been done before in this country (USA). These shirts are so
amazing.  The use of color on the shirt gives the shirt(s) the modern look of patterns
and color.
