For Memorial Day’s Menu,Try Alpha Food’s Plant-Based Crispy Chik’n Patties!

I am a flexitarian. I eat lots of vegetables and I eat meat and poultry in small quantities. I am always on the lookout for food products that are plant-based but will work well for sandwiches. Recently, I was introduced to Alpha Foods regarding their products:

Alpha Foods is the leader in creating delicious, plant-based frozen meals made with a blend of quality ingredients that meet the needs of consumers looking for approachable and convenient meal options through their better-for-you, delicious, and authentic comfort foods that are packed with plant-based protein

I am a burger lover. I like to have sandwiches that I can dress up the sandwich and feel like I am eating a meal.  Most of the faux chicken “burgers” I have tried never tasted like chicken and they didn’t have the right texture.  When I was sent some information about Alpha Foods  Crispy Chik’n Burger, I read it thoughtfully

“Alpha is on a mission to bring you unrivaled taste fueled by the power of plants. Without any sacrifice of taste and texture, our crispy chik’n burgers are tender and breaded for the perfect bite – try it and you’ll see why we call it the Alpha Burger. Go on, take a bite, you’ll never guess you’ve gone plant-based.”

How to Cook Crispy Chik’n Patties:

What caught my eye about this Crispy Chik’n Patty was that it was breaded so that it would be crispy like most of the chicken sandwiches that I like.  I was game to try it and so I signed up for this test drive.

DISCLOSURE:
I was sent a shipment of one bag of Alpha Burger’s Crispy Chik’n (plant-based) patties at no charge. This was to allow me to try this product without worrying about the cost. Samples make it easier for me to try new things and it allows me to try different ways of using various products. For me,  the samples me allowed me to easily try this product.   It didn’t affect the outcome of my test of the product other than it enabled it to happen. I would never review a food product if I haven’t tried the product.  I also don’t allow samples of any product to affect my review. My review is honest and thoughtful.

There was another point that sold me on the Alpha Food brand. It’s available at Costco! I love going to Costco. I know when I am shopping at Costco, that most of the time when I am shopping for a specific brand that I have seen at Costco, it’s usually in stock.
(Though during these days of quarantine, I don’t get there often enough to get all the wonderful things that Costco offers. However, that doesn’t stop me from placing online orders at Costco!)

When these Alpha Foods Crispy Chik’n patties arrived, we hadn’t had lunch yet. So I pulled out a couple of patties and turned on my air fryer. Not only was I hungry, but I really wanted to see how long it would take in my air fryer to cook these babies!   (Answer: Not long!! )

I grabbed a couple of English Muffins and started pulling condiments and vegetables to create a good chik’n burger (shredded lettuce, tomato slice and cooked mushrooms).

It only took me 15-18 minutes to cook these Chik’n patties in my Air Fryer. (I have a great  Cuisinart air fryer. I absolutely love it!) The Chik’n patties turned out beautifully .. with crunch golden brown exterior. The interior was moist but cooked really well too.

REVIEW:

You can see just how brown the Chik’n patty got – particularly around the edges.  The mushrooms were lightly sauteed and there is a slice of tomato on the bottom along with lots of shredded lettuce.  As you can see the sandwich was a bit tall.. so I had to work my way around the  sandwich to get a good bite of everything together.  SOOOOOOO GOOD!! I love this product.

You would not know that this product was plant-based. It tastes like a real chicken sandwich and the crunch of the breading makes the patty taste authentic.  What’s not to love? I  will be making another sandwich later today and I will take a couple of photos and include them in this post.

The best part of this sandwich is that it is plant-based and I can’t wait to cook 3 of these patties so that my vegetarian kid can enjoy this with us. It’s amazing how good it tastes and how the “meaty texture” really enhances the quality of the sandwich!

I hope you get a chance to try the Alpha Burger Crispy Chik’n Patties. Feed it to anyone and they don’t have to know it’s plant-based. It’s just plain yummy! You will find it at your local Costco!

Thank you to Alpha Foods for allowing me to test drive this new product. I am a fan!
