Today- June 1- is National Nail Polish Day!
Today is the day to celebrate the beauty of having
great designs or colors on your nails with this new product!
I was always a nail polish junkie. I have boxes of polish (which I have started giving away to friends) because I would not have the time to sort through all the polishes. I used to take photos of my nails on my phone to save the specific looks that I have put together. However, that didn’t work out well because I didn’t have a folder just for nail photos. Sorting through all the photos on my camera– not so much fun! I always wanted to curate through the looks but I really didn’t have the time to spend going through a few hundred photos just to find nail pictures. I recently discovered a great way to save the great nail looks that you (and I!!) create so that we can replicate the look or tweak it.
Julie Kandalec!
Celebrity manicurist Julie Kandalec (former creative director at Paintbox, and founder of Masterclass Nail Academy) has launched a new product that will help you create and/or document the latest designs on your nails.
Julie just launched her first retail product, a gorgeous self-published nail art book for both consumers and professionals alike!

2-page inner spread that is in these books displaying some of the best in nail art!
The release features twin covers with nail lacquers hand-swirled by Kandalec, photographed by Nick Parisse, and the inside spread features editorials done by Julie with famed beauty photographers, Jamie Nelson, and Yu Tsai, among others.
Julie talks about what sparked her to create this book
Inspired by a cover shoot where she had to design forty different looks, the editorial manicurist sketched out all forty tips on a flight home from Tokyo, saving hours of work.
“I was regularly creating nail art looks for private clients, brands like Essie and Christian Siriano, and on set with Elle and Cosmopolitan. Understanding that nail artists (like all creatives) are visual beings, I wanted to design something tangible that a client or artist can create in, whether they are together or apart.”“Now that we are all home and salons are slowly re-opening but with limited services, saving time is vital. My hope for my Nail Art Design Book is for every nail art lover to use this as a daily diary of nail art that inspires them, to show what trends and colors they are obsessed with, want to wear on their own nails or create for a client. I hope that this sketchbook makes designing nail art more exciting and easier and that you find ways to connect with other nail art lovers through collaboration” said Kandalec.

The book also features clear illustrations of Julie’s favorite tools of the trade, and 27 pages of blank nails to sketch or paint in, in three shapes – almond, oval, and square. (see below)
