In Just One Day: Tampa Bay Mentions far Outpacing Kansas City
With a few days to go before kickoff, the excitement on social media is building for Super Bowl LV. Total mentions across social media and the digital media landscape stand at more than three million, according to international social media listening and analytics firm Talkwalker.
(Mentions have increased since I got this blast from Talkwalker!)
Among the updated highlights for the big game:
Among the updated highlights for the big game:
MOST MENTIONS – BRAND
Verizon is the brand that’s received the most mentions so far, with 75,600 mentions. Verizon is hoping to use the event as a showcase for ultra-fast broadband, unveiling a range of 5G-powered features for fans attending the game.
The highest positive sentiment is reserved for health care workers who will be attending the game for free.
MOST MENTIONS IN A DAY – BRAND
In addition, Verizon’s one-day total mentions of 33,200 was more than any other brand before the Super Bowl this year.
In second place was Budweiser, which isn’t even running an ad for the big game, with 16,500 mentions.
MOST ENGAGEMENT – BRAND
Here’s where Budweiser shines. Even without an ad planned, Budweiser has more than one million engagements.
Its parent company, ABinBev, where some brands ARE running ads during the Super Bowl, scored 36 percent of ALL social media engagements.
HIGHEST NET POSITIVE SENTIMENT – BRANDS
While Avocados from Mexico, which is sitting out this year’s ad wars, continues to lead the pack.
Scott’s Miracle-Gro is a newcomer to Super Bowl advertising, and they’re not wasting any time winning fans, Talkwalker reports.
The most positive interactions were for Avocados with 45,000.
1. Avocados from Mexico 98.69 percent
2. Scotts Miracle-Gro 96.38 percent
3. Rocket Mortgage 93.35 percent
4. Verizon 87.94 percent
5. Weather Tech 83,78 percent
6. DraftKings 81.17 percent
7. Stella Artois 80.78 percent
8. Cheetos 80.64 percent
9. Amazon Alexa 74.97 percent
10. Other (average) 23.30 percent
When it comes to the teams, there are two key metrics.
MOST MENTIONS – TEAM TAMPA BAY!
Tampa Bay is far outpacing its opponent from Kansas City, with 820,000 mentions for the Buccaneers vs. 420,000 for the Chiefs.
SENTIMENT – TEAM
Sentiment can be one of the most powerful predictors of events on social media.
Last year we used it to predict a Kansas City Chiefs victory in the game.
If the same pattern follows, look for another Chiefs victory, as Kansas City leads with 49 percent sentiment vs. 36 percent for Tampa Bay.
