Back Me in this Appeal and “Win for Vin” For Fitness and Health Education
OK, I’m keeping to my promise of “hitting” up my network for this non-profit only once per year. I’m hoping that you’ll support
me as I step up to the plate and swing for the fences to raise funds for Fit 4 The Cause, Inc. I hope you’re familiar with them since
I’ve been on their board for, gee, ten years. I’m also doubling as the play-by-play announcer, so, let’s win for–with apologies to
Dodger fans–Vin (Scully)!
On Saturday, November 5th, Fit 4 The Cause is participating in its first-ever Home Run Derby, timed with Game 7 (if necessary)
of the World Series at Valley View Park in Oak Park in Ventura County, CA. A gang of 25 home-run hitters are joining me on the diamond.

Why?
I’ve always believed that like health care; exercise and fitness are basic human rights. No argument against it holds water. The need
for health-enhancing services in low-income communities is enormous and growing–and COVID just made things worse. According
to a recent study published in the Lancet, TEN times more children and teens are suffering from obesity in comparison to 40 years ago.
This same report states that youth in the United States, ages 5 to 19, currently have obesity levels above 20%.
Fit 4 The Cause’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of the most vulnerable populations of our society—the vulnerable
children, the at-risk adults with special needs, and the frail elderly in mostly low-income and underserved communities of Ventura and
Los Angeles counties. We achieve these goals through expertly run group exercise programs and health and nutrition education.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary of quality service, our schools, hospitals, assisted living facilities and special needs partners are demanding
more quality fitness programs for their constituents, and we need our generous supporters to cover the costs! This way we can continue
to serve our low-income beneficiaries with 6 days of group fitness programs including Yoga, Zumba®, Strength and Conditioning, Boxing,
and Nutrition.
Our GuideStar Platinum charity status reinforces our dedication to our service recipients, ensuring that your dollars go directly to quality
programs. Through a grant from Ventura’s Human Service Center, we enjoy living rent-free with Community Conscience’s 13 local
non-profit agencies, working together to serve our community’s needs.
We appreciate any sized donation which helps us improve the lives of 2000 individuals who are at considerable risk.
