What it Means to be a Truly Science-Backed Brand!
By Marie-Laure Fournier
Elysium isn’t like those other anti-aging companies — it’s a scientifically backed anti-aging company on a mission to translate critical scientific advancements in aging research into accessible health products and technologies. To do so, the world’s leading scientists, clinicians, and institutions work together to develop clinically validated solutions that address some of the most significant needs in healthcare.
The Brains Behind the Brand
Eight winners of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, Economic Sciences, and Physiology or Medicine since 1993, in areas of research including neuroscience, complex chemical systems, and biochemistry, currently sit on Elysium’s Scientific Advisory Board, guiding its scientific direction.

Follow the Science
At the heart of each one of Elysium’s initiatives is a commitment to scientific rigor and open collaboration. Ever heard of sirtuins and NAD+? That research came straight from Elysium’s co-founder and chief scientist, Dr. Leonard Guarente, who is also the director of the Paul F. Glenn for Biology of Aging Research at MIT.
In 1999, Dr. Guarente’s lab found that if they activated the SIR2 gene, yeast would live longer. Soon after this discovery, they found that SIR2 required a molecule called NAD+, which is found in all living cells, to function. Without NAD+, SIR2 did nothing. In the years that followed it became clear how important this work was. There are SIR2-related genes that encode proteins called sirtuins in all organisms. Humans, it turns out, have seven of them (bet you never thought you had so much in common with yeast). At the time of Dr. Guarente’s original discovery, there were a few hundred scientific papers on sirtuins. Now there are more than 12,000.
This is precisely the kind of research that is providing thought leadership for the anti-aging market and that can be found in Elysium’s supplements, such as Basis. And that’s just one example. Elysium has a fully loaded product pipeline in various stages of clinical development, courtesy of its Nobel Prize-winning advisors, partnerships with Oxford and Yale — and much more.
You may be aware of Elysium’s beauty, health, and wellness supplements. But leveraging Elysium’s Scientific Advisory Board and extensive scientific network, future studies may include:
- circadian disruption and sleep
- female and male fertility
- diet and cardiovascular health
- neuroplasticity
- physical performance
- environmental exposure and stress
We, for one, can’t wait to see what comes next.
