Nancy from Ten Pretty Girls blog has a real knack for spotting a sale– and not just “any” sale mind you, but some great sales. (I should know. We hit a serious sample sale in NYC in Nov along with H&M and Sephora damage)
She’s got an eagle eye and she posted about a sale that definitely caught my eye.
I think when you see her blog post, you will understand why.
JCMadison.com has a specials page and it’s pretty special with accessories marked down — at least by a third and some even more featuring jewelry, belts, sunglasses, bags of all sorts including Kooba, Aaneta (a fave in my closet), Kale (another favorite who I wrote about early in the brand’s career) and a brand that is actually part of my resume anad my closet–Botkier Bags!
Here’s what JCMadison.com has on sale — an array of bags is dizzying and the Botkier bag on special is the Stevie Satchel in this gorgeous metallic taupe that I totally love. It’s about 40% off the original price of $675.00 ( a bit pricey) down to $405 which is more affordable.
The 411
Why is this so relevant?
I was the second writer in the US to cover Monica Botkier when I was writing for this LA monthly print & online magazine as well as writing for other online and print publications.
I had featured Monica based on a friend (thank you Yana!!) who sent me an email with simply a photo of a great handbag which I recognized as genius design but nothing more. I asked for press contact and I got a phone number in return. When I dialed it up, it turned out to be Monica Botkier’s personal cell number. You can figure out the ensuing conversation from this LA girl to NYC photographer who had created this amazing Trigger bag.

After that initial placement, Monica mentioned that she had a few sales from that mention in that throw-away magazine– and that was before the line was even in stores. There were a number of online and a print spots that have developed out of that single contact. While she’s expanded her line beyond Trigger styles to an amazing collection of bags and now added shoes and accessories, there’s a soft spot in my heart for Botkier.
I have the Trigger in canvas in my signature color– bright pink.
Now her line features a small assortment of Stevie designs which includes
the Stevie Satchel (which happens to be on JCMadison.com’s specials page
Stevie Convertible Satchel
Stevie Hobo
Stevie Clutch
Available in at least 3-4 colors in every style, it’s a hard choice to choose just among this small collection much less the rest of the amazing styles. However due to this rather interesting coincidence of names (and that I have a small piece of history with the line), I love this style. It’s a style that I would pick out because of the hardware details. Love the glazed taupe. The clutch speaks my name. The satchel and hobo both scream “buy me ! buy me!”.
Now here’s the operative question!
Monica, how did you pick out this name? Where did the inspiration come from? Just curious here in LA-LA-Land.
Just had to put this out there– since we never met, but Botkier pretty much nailed my personal style though I am sure this has nothing to do with me.

I love the Stevie hobo and clutches. They are very versatile and ofcourse unique (Botkier’s signature). If someone is not interested in paying full price, there is always replica option.
