World Bartender’s Day is on February 24 and wine and spirits expert, Lucas Huff has some suggestions for you!
While we live in a New Age where anyone can claim any profession if they watch enough YouTube videos about any given skill. but there are some categories where you need more actual experience and tutelage than Youtube can provide.
I do a lot of solo education, learning things online and practicing till I nail it down sufficient self-enlightenment, some crafts simply cannot be duplicated via video, but must be hands-on!

For example, Lucas Huff: a renowned and certified Sommelier-turned-spirits-master. His ability to tastefully master one craft has given him the duality to perfect yet another, slightly similar one. Lucas’s expertise has earned him the title of Artisan Mixologist who serves as its Director of Brand Advocacy at the Bently Heritage Estate Distillery in Minden, Nevada.
Lucas is like a fish to water when it comes to service, hospitality, and the food and drink industries. Being the son of a chef, he worked while developing his passions at his family’s restaurant until he was 15-years-old, which is when he set out to discover the world of wines and spirits. His exploration led him to the art of synergies and pairings in fine dining. Lucas’s one-of-a-kind charisma, an unfailing commitment to excellent service, and over 10 years of fine dining experience make each drink he creates a unique experience.
Before joining the BHED team, Lucas spent two years perfecting his craft while managing a vineyard in the Bay Area. His talent and exclusive creations have been featured in Popular Mechanics Magazine as well as local publications and television
Lucas shares his journey on Instagram’s The Bartender’s Fable, where he is constantly documenting new trends, flavors, and ingredients while paying homage to the roots of mixology. He tells fables throughout the creative process that give each drink touched by the master mixologist a purpose that goes beyond being absolutely delicious.
To celebrate World Bartender’s Day, Lucas has also created these two exquisite cocktails:
Paying homage to the first Academy Awards celebration hosted by Douglas Fairbanks at the Roosevelt Hotel in 1929.
“Fairbank’s Negroni”
Ingredients:
● Equal Parts:
○ Fred Jerbis Bitter Amaro
○ Controtto Bianco Vermouth
Mixed in a shaker with ice well (at least 30-40 seconds)
Strain into a glass with ice and add
● Dash of Rosewater
● Garnished with:
○ Rose Petals
○ Sage
● Dusted with Gold
That’s Amore!
Ingredients:
● Source One Vodka Rested In Oak Sherry Casks
● Cold Brew Coffee
● Raspberry Vanilla Syrup
● Half & Half
Mix all of the ingredients in a shaker well (at least 30 seconds) and pour into a coupe glass
