The Devil in Disguise

I want to believe in people — in their innate goodness. I want to believe that deep down everyone has that spark inside of their soul, that immortal fire which breaths and animates every ounce of their being. I want to believe that there is some magic force inside of us all which leads us away from what is wrong and shows us what is right. I want to keep such beliefs because they give me hope, but I am always reminded that not everyone is what they claim.
Some of these people are so driven by delusion that they will trample the dreams of another and slander his name, staining his cause. All because they don’t see the world in the same light. They can’t possibly fathom how anyone’s view could be different from their own and them that means destroy it. If they don’t understand something they will fear it and when people fear something, they will inevitably try to attack it. That is how the weak have survived for so long, through fear and hatred.
If we have different skin color, somehow, we are a different race. How is that even a possibility? If we are from a different culture, we are strange and our customs are delinquent. And if I don’t pray to your chosen God, I must be a devil. Right? I don’t understand!
This is 2009! How can people still think and act in a manner that is archaic but its very nature? We dwell in a time of high-speed computers, airplanes and the internet. We have mastered the earth, the ocean and the air. We are gods in the truest sense of the word but our petty differences make us animals. We can’t look past the past and because of our lack of sight we will never see a future worth living in.
What give you or anyone else the right to judge another person on your own fundamentally flawed scale of existence. Who are you to say what is right; to trample another because they are different to smile in a man’s face and then stab him in the back? You don’t act so holy in my eyes. You act like the devil in disguise.
