Lifestyle Lemonaid’s Nikki Joel Talks About “50 Shades of Grey” & a Whole Lot More!

You might not recognize Nikki Joel by name but you should recognize the Lifestyle Lemonaid blog name

— or seen her with Dr. Drew Talking about 50 Shades of Grey

Nikki Joel — Miss Lemonaid of LifestyleLemonaid.com
The point of me talking to Nikki was about how to spice up your sex life– married or in a long-term relationship or partnership, everyone needs to “juice it up” a little bit. So as 50 Shades of Grey came out and became such a hot topic,

(The link to look inside does NOT work. You need to click through the image or the name of the book above to get to the Amazon page to look through the book.)
I figured now was the time to let’s bring sex back on the table — not that it ever left but I try to spread out those posts so that you have something interesting hitting a couple of times in a quarter as I find new things to play with or test drive.

Nikki Joel had been on Dr. Drew’s show along with other women to talk about this book.

Ok.. so maybe you have read it. Maybe — like me– you haven’t read the books (yes there are THREE books). The trick on this is to listen to the podcast and see what Nikki has to say because we talk fairly candidly about the book but also go BEYOND the book. You don’t need a book to tell you how to have fun in bed. (read my blog instead– there’s more topics and commentary from contributors that will have you wondering what is going on or “what could have happened” or “what did happen” or “what didn’t happen”)

However a caveat here.
I do not know how or why that I have such bad reception on this call. She’s in LA.. I am in LA. Go figure. The last time I had such bad reception was when I was speaking to James Morrison (the singer) when he was in the UK and it was a 3 way conversation via NYC. Rather than make you listen to this call that we both tried 2x to make better– and nothing seemed to work right, I am transcribing & paraphrasing a lot of what Nikki said about how to spice up your marriage– plus mention products, websites and ideas we both had in the course of 2 phone calls. ( That’s how bad the recording was — that I have to paraphrase or I will be transcribing for 3 hours)

1) Read all three books of the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy. She says they rock– and enough to have a short-hand between Nikki and her husband who knows all the players in the book and the key aspects about it.

2) If you have children, you need to make sure you have a lock on the door for slipping out of Mommy/Daddy roles and back into husband/wife roles

3) If you like 50 Shades, great– explore the genre!
If you didn’t like it, same suggestion, explore the genre (I found something that made more sense to me in that genre and it’s definitely a page-turner)
No matter what, it will change your perspective of what you can do behind closed doors or when kids are away or you just have some quiet time.

4) Check out fun toys to use with your partner– and I don’t mean string guns. Check out various stores including Fred Segal, Drugstore.com and LuckyBloke.com for toys, implements, books, lingerie, designer condoms and other things to turn up the heat from simmer to sizzling to roaring flames.

5) Make sure you read other articles that she has on her blog– and check out some of her videos– particularly the leggings store video! I never knew this place existed and you don’t have to pay $100 for great leggings that look like they came off the runway! She found a place for under $50 on Robertson!! (kudos to Nikki on that!)

6) She’s a bargain shopper. LOVE that– it’s my sphere too. Turns out she bought a pair of Steve Madden booties for a bargain at DSW. I have to say she got more colors but I found the same shoe by being a bit more patient — and settling for only one color– for just under $35 including shipping!!

8) She’s a wingman! Nikki helps friends find Mr. Right Now on the way to Mr. RIGHT!

7) Her blog is more random things she thinks about or does and emails herself to write about it.

8) She will share with you various new skin treatments, fashion finds (right down to her closet) along with great hair and beauty tips. PLUS she offers advice.

Thank you to Nikki Joel– we were on the phone a VERY LONG time.. and we talked about so many things that were “girl talk”. There was a serious amount of editing of content as well as the audio issues (3 hours worth). I hope that she and I can speak again– and maybe have a video interview as well.
