This particular episode of Celebrity Style Slam Oscars 2014 is going to run a little long if only because beauty expert Marie Pappachatzis from IAmTHEMakeupJunkie blog and I reviewed about a hundred photos of people on the Oscars red carpet- both men and women. We curated carefully and we selected the mother-daughter duo of Kate Hudson and Goldie Hawn because 1) they were related, 2) both dresses were from Versace and 3) they were dressed similarly but quite differently. How they approached wearing their dresses was radically different.
Goldie Hawn who wore Atelier Versace.
Celebrity Style Slam Podcast with Marie Pappachatzis (IAmTHEMakeupJunkie blog) and Stevie Wilson:
Kate Hudson wearing Versace couture (collaboration with Donatella Versace),
Ratings:
Goldie Hawn
Where to start when looking at Goldie Hawn. She hasn’t always made the best choices for red carpet appearances and this one is consistent with that trend. This is too much of a hippie vibe– and perhaps if her hair, jewelry, makeup and fit of the gown weren’t so casual but more attentive to details- then things might have been different. I could go into great detail about Goldie Hawn’s outfit but there’s little point. Marie and I said it all on the podcast. Fit, color, style all need to work in concert for a gown for this kind of occasion. If that’s not dealt with correctly –thus throwing off the entire look and affecting the hair, makeup, and accessories

Kate Hudson
Kate Hudson was AMAZING! She shows such attention to detail in her gown, jewelry, shoes and working with her makeup artist and hair stylist (Chris McMillan) to get it all right. I heard that she couldn’t sit in the car wearing that dress (it’s silk) and she didn’t want to ruin the look with wrinkles so for the 60 minute or so drive, she was kneeling or laying down on the car seat. The things we will do for the sake of a gown and making a perfect impression. Listen to the podcast to hear us chat about Kate Hudson’s “look”

Kate Hudson wins. You don’t have to ask why. The gown, the hair, makeup and jewelry speak volumes. This is a woman who was on a mission!

Goldie…Kate looks more like she might be on Starship Enterprise.
OMG.. I love it Pam. That really resonates with me. Along with Marie, I have spent a boat-load of time pulling and sifting photos, and you are right! Goldie does indeed seem to be from the Enterprise
I like Kate’s outfit better!
