Holiday Weekends Require Cocktails with Unusual Tastes: Chai Elixirs!

I love unusual tastes and Chai is one of my most favorite tastes! I love it all day long. Why not in a cocktail then?
Chai Elixir infused beverages provide you with really unique tastes– with or without alcohol. Since this post is about cocktails, let’s try it with spirits!

Chai Martini- Essence with Gin

product_all_essence

Served on the rocks or up, the classic martini has a new twist. Chai Elixir Essence white tea and peach infusions offer a crisp and clean new take on this classic cocktail.

This Elixir is a sparkling White tea with peach infusions and floral notes. It is the lightest and most delicate Elixir blend for your refreshment and enjoyment. Natural antioxidants and caffeine to invigorate both body and mind –
It’s more than tea; it’s Chai! (My personal favorite tea)
It’s more than a drink; it’s an Elixir!

Because this Elixir is so light, you should think about using a more delicate vodka with a peach infusion to underscore the peach flavor like 360 Georgia Peach Vodka, sparking wine (like champagne or prosecco) is a great option too.

OR try a vodka with the spicy nutmeg or ginger flavors that are the essence of Chai.

Or you can use Sapphire Bombay or Hendricks Gin. Your choice. There are many gin brands out there. You want something with that juniper and herbal flavor that’s very clean.
RECIPE

2 oz. of vodka, gin or prosecco (your choice of brand) (depending on how you want to go with the taste)
3-4 oz. Chai Elixir -Essence
Shake in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Pour into a martini glass.
Garnish with a frozen or fresh peach slice!

Chai Manhattan – Fusion with Whiskey
If whiskey is your liquor of choice, Chai Elixir Fusion, with its smooth blend of oolong tea and vanilla, is its perfect pairing. they all taste great.

RECIPE
1 shot (2 oz) of your whiskey blend. I would recommend you don’t skimp on the whiskey. Make it an artisanal brand.
3 -4 oz of the Elixir
Pour into a shaker filled with ice — shaking for at least 30 seconds.

Pour this into a great “rocks” glass! You can use a hot caramel sauce to rim the glass, then coat it with either cinnamon, nutmeg or chili powder. The traditional garnish is a maraschino cherry. If you can get a jar of Robert Lambert Cherries in Merlot, use that to juice this cocktail up.

New addition: VIVID
An old favorite, the gimlet gets new life from Chai Elixir Vivid.
The green tea and citrus notes along with the ginger kick infuse an excellent dimension to your favorite gin.

Chai Gimlet – Vivid with Gin

I love gin and I prefer to use either Bombay Sapphire Gin or Hendricks Gin. Either works well with this blend of Chai Elixir Vivid. However if you want to tweak it, you can use a Green Tea Vodka for a serious tweak in the taste! If you want this option, check out the UV Vodka Sweet Green Tea option.

RECIPE
1-2 oz. gin or green tea vodka
3 oz. citrus juice like fresh tangerine juice or grapefruit juice.
OR as a real tweak–
4 oz. ginger ale. (not that sweet stuff typically found in supermarkets, go after either Hansens’ Ginger Ale or any something from Reeds or Blenheim. This is not the time to scrimp)

if you are really gutsy, I would do 3 oz. of juice and 1oz. of the ginger ale along with the tea– using ginger ale as a float. It’s about a flavor kick.

This would make a great pitcher drink for brunch. It’s a thought!

Chai Eight – Vivid with Whiskey

Our take on the classic Ward Eight.
The green tea and citrus of Chai Elixir Vivid blends with whiskey to provide a deep and complex flavor to be appreciated by lovers of whiskey with a tang.

RECIPE (based on Ward Eight cocktail)

2 ounces bourbon or rye whiskey — choose your spirit carefully. Rye has a distinctly different taste.
3/4 ounce lemon juice– try using FRESH juice!
3/4 ounce simple syrup
Dash of grenadine
Orange slice and maraschino cherry for garnish

Whiskey would be approached from a different angle than other spirits. Suggest that you try substituting Vivid for the Fusion in the recipe above for a uniquely different taste twist.

  1. The last bottled cocktail I tried was a big letdown..but I like this idea very much. The gimlet with tea and ginger is a fabulous idea. I will track these down and try one.
