Get Into the Shade (Hotel) and Enjoy a Phenomenal Menu + Crazy Great Desserts!
Are you looking for something unique or someplace different for dinner, lunch, brunch or just to hang out during Happy Hour? I have a great place for you! It’s one of my favorite places in Manhattan Beach that’s just off the main drag but a short, easy walk from the pier and lots of great stores that make Manhattan Beach’s “downtown” area such a hot spot. Shade Hotel is a great hotel that is the perfect staycation as well as an “urban getaway” for that late afternoon or evening out that you might need to recharge batteries while nibbling on amazing food from their terrific menu.
Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach recently introduced its reimagined menu, and that includes new desserts inspired by the luxury boutique hotel’s surroundings and the personal background of Executive Chef Chris Garasic. The food from Chef Garasic is fabulous – from
appetizers and small plates to the great mains. However what caught our attention were these new desserts! (YUM!)
The new Peanut Butter Chocolate Semifreddo pays homage to the beaches just a few blocks away from Shade, with whipped peanut butter serving as the dessert’s “sand.” The beloved flavor combination and the creamy texture of this chilled treat make it the perfect way to end a day on the beach.
This is the perfect dessert for the peanut butter lover– or those that want something with a unique presentation.
Chef Garasic looked to his childhood in rural Oregon for inspiration for the Mason Jar Cherry Cheesecake. Garasic grew up with an appreciation for fresh fruits and berries, and this dessert reflects his roots. Fresh Washington cherries star in the sauce, which sits atop a creamy vanilla bean cheesecake and a sweet and salty pretzel crust. The dish is presented in a mason jar, adding a touch of rustic charm.
This one sounds divine. The cherries and pretzels make it the perfect dessert in my universe.
The one not mentioned that’s currently on menu is the Summer Peach’s ‘N Cream Bread Pudding! Made with vanilla ice cream, peach gastrique, whipped cream, it’s comfort food dessert at it’s finest!
My suggestion is to get into ZINC at Shade Hotel for the most amazing meal! The menu I am featuring below is subject to change on a daily and seasonal basis. No one knows exactly when end of season is (with the California weather being so changeable, that’s to be expected), but the menu is based on availability and also Chef Garasic’s testing out new menu items. So check out this menu knowing that things will change!

I have my favorites on this menu but I am not going to tell you which ones they are. If you can’t figure out my taste, then it’s up to you to figure out which ones to choose and you test them out! I would be very interested to learn which cocktails you found to be your favorites!
